Q:

No chatter on new Texan caliber?

When the 457 came out there was instantly info on line. Velocities with different grain ammo, accuracy videos etc. I have the 457 and it lived up to power claims. Don’t expect the shot count claimed and Still working on best ammo for what I’d like to see in accuracy but its usable. I’m on the list for the 308 but getting concerned over lack of posting now that 357 is out. Is it because there’s not many out there yet or just does not have the hype that surrounded the intro of first Texans? Maybe. I can’t afford the more custom guns and have high hopes for the 308 but this lack of posting about 357 has me wondering why no one is bragging yet. Hmm, I’ll just keep checking. In the mean time if you have one for pete’s sake post something please!

Airforce Airguns say they’ve received 308 barrels and will start shipping preorders next week. Just thought I’d post for anyone who’s waiting

I would love to get a .308 barrel for my texab shipped to Canada 🙂 I cast 113, 170 & 200 grain bullets for them. I have 230, 292, 405 & 480 grain molds for .457

AF just doesn’t get it. They are only worried about making a high FPE number. Just like the .45. Won’t shoot a small bullet like 90% of people would do. Barrel twist is way to fast and that’s why it has to shoot 350+ gr slugs. What’s wrong with shooting a 250 gr bullet at 950 fps? Still 500 fpe. Instead they took the easy route and went with shooting a to heavy slug at sub par speeds.

If you remember the video from the shot show where they are talking to the clueless guy that says the 357 will make 400 fpe and the 308 will make 350 fpe? Well they had to lower the 357 to 350 fpe. I don’t think it will make that unless you are shooting a over weight slug in the 700’s. Same with .308 trying to make the 300 fpe they are claiming now.

Guy over on the GTA did a review on the 357 and he got 842 fps with 190 gr for 299 fpe on 3000 psi.

They just don’t get it or care. It’s all about a number that in the real world is worthless unless it’s done with the right combination.

I think the hype flame simmered down is all. We all know these rifles are strong for the respective caliber so it will boil down to preference of a caliber for specific needs.
