Q:

No dead squirrels

Went squirrel hunting today with my condor SS in 22 cal. This is the second time I have taken my condor squirrel hunting instead of my usual Kimber 22. Same results, the gun just will not kill a squirrel dead with one shot! Today I head shot a fox squirrel at about 30 yrds. Knocked him out of the tree all the way to the ground only to have him jump up and run in a hollow tree. I am shooting 18.1 grain jsb jumbo exacts at around 850 Fps. The gun is extremely accurate at this setup. Just won’t kill them dead. What am I doing wrong?

You probably just missed the brain or even hit him in the jaw. I have shot them in the head and missed the sweet spot and they required a follow up shot or ran into a hollow tree. have you tried body shots? I have taken them with the JSB 18.1 with the prod and they only run a couple yards if any at all, with body shot. I usually use my .25 condor and have no problem putting them down unless the head shot is slightly off. the body shots are very effective too.
