Q:

NO REGULATOR NEEDED fot TT AAA Condor

My new bathtub

No, I don’t know how it shoots yet but this string looks good enough to get me to the range before global warming ever starts
Oh, specifics first,
.25 x 24″ TT AAA Condor Updated to TT QCTH, super modded by me by putting an O-ring behind the TopHat, Power Wheel still about where Tony set it up at 9 / 8,
30 shots of 25.4 gr. .25 cal. JSB Kings from 2800 PSI down to about 2350.
Chronographed by new Caldwell Ballistic Precision factory calibrated chronograph indoors using premium (invisible) IR LED Light Kit. Almost 150 registered shots with NO ERRORS yet.

So here is the inverted tub:
931, 927, 926, 930, 933, 936, 943, 945, 946, 943, 941, 949, 954, 953, 947, 948, 948, 946, 948, 943, 945, 946, 941, 940, 938, 936, 931, 931, 929, 926
Average 940 FPS AND 50 FT/LBS ENERGY.
Stdev: 8.3

What with 16 shots from shot 8 to shot 23 rining from 945 to 954 and back down to 941 who needs a regulator ❓ so I’ll fill to 2700 and shoot down to about 2490. I particularly like the average of only 15 PSI per shot. Now if only I could hit the target at 50 yards.

Here is how I initially analyzed the string averaging the total air used:

.25 (L) 25.4 gr. “JSB KING”
(L) = QCTH LARGE restrictor.

Thanks Salticon, i had no idea as i never competed other than against myself. The police and corrections qualifying I did twice a year was almost all at center mass. When they wouldn’t count my same hole shots I started throwing a shot to the head that still counted.

thats for 13.4 gr JSB RS, for 25m benchrest,

Sharpshot86,
I don’t get precise PSI readings. An average over a good number of shots is what I use. Recording the best guess while using a magnifying glass an individual reading may be as much as 130 off from the average. I guess those tiny gauges aren’t 17 jewel movements.
It may be closer to add get an average then figure a sliding scale of sorts.
My calculation is only a guesstimate that allows me to select a more appropriate fill PSI for the next test. I’ll adjust that fill pressure as I can get to the range and shoot for groups.

Salticon,
That sounds great for .22.
What pellet and what range are you working at ❓

All,
Has anyone got a good accurate speed for .25 x 32 gr. Baracudas ❓
Or a maximum speed before they begin to spiral ❓
On a 3000 fill i can get a high of 1116.
Here’s a string from 3000 down to 2500 PSI
1) 1115
2) 1116
3) 1116
4) 1110
5) 1107
6) 1100
7) 1094
8) 1088
9) 1073
10) 1071

Good to know!, this is mineoff 3k fill, but I got a regulator, I get approximately 60-70 shots, .22

Salticon,
2 cups of coffee gives me at least dime sized groips all the time

Sharpshot86,
It’s an educated guestimate. You remenber from statistics class where there are a number of different formula to calculate an average. And each one gets a different answer. Go figure :butkick:
I’m sure it’s not perfectly accurate but gives me a close estimate for a new fill PSI.

How do you get such precise pressure measurements? Aftermarket gauge on your tank?

I wanna see the groups and combos, especially at 75 yards, Tony is building me a BR .25 Condor for Arizona, looking for dime groups AtLEAsT!!

Thanks Salticon.

Still cold, rainy, snowy, and did i say damn cold here in west central Ohio so reluctant to go to the range to shoot yet.

Trying to work out a setup for 31.02 gr H&N Baracudas as it seems to fall in between using the Large valve restrictor and none. I’ll do more chronograph testing this week. Preliminary tests show 880 FPS with the large restrictor at 2800 PSI and 1115 FPS with no restrictor at 3000 PSI. I’ll try to get a flat curve with the large restrictor first as that should use less air.

I don’t understand why so many do better with the 25 gr. JSBs while the info I have shows the 31 gr. Baracuda has a higher BC ❓

thats impressive buddy!
