noob mistake
i pulled the trigger and slammed my breech shut without closing it when learning about the safety,didnt have the tank on though…could i have done any damage??? 😥

With the bottle installed the valve spring absorbs most of the shock, without it all goes to the threaded collar that holds the bottle. Earlier guns used to just have one set screw holding that collar in place – my first talon was used and the collar showed signs of repeated firing with no bottle as the set screw hole was elongated
Newer guns have two set screw’s which seem to stop this but I still wouldn’t do it repeatedly.
YN, have you seen any damage to the breech, o-rings, Top Hat, or valve stem from firing with the breech open? I would think that the breech would add considerably weight to the hammer.

I’ll hold my breath while waiting for any reply…………..GASP!!!! On second thought at my age holding my breath for 10 seconds might bring on the big one.
