Not new to anyone but I ordered a 25 caliber barrel
I just ordered a 25 caliber barrel w/bushings (Tim recommended 24″ barrel length) from Mac1.
He’ll do the machine work and crowning.
Just couldn’t wait to join you guys with the bigger caliber Talon/Condor.
I’m looking forward to completely destroying the 4×4″ block of wood and/or the occasional errant raccoon 🙂
Going to need yet another shroud LOL.

All I know is that every one who has L-W bbl’s ordered, Including The Supplier_ L-W of Georgia is saying that they are awaiting a shipment from GERMANY.
So why is L-W in Georgia awaiting a shipment of BBL’s from Germany if they don’t come from Germany? 😕
And for what it’s worth, Lowl’y BSA has a VERY smooth bore. They are super polished inside. Good Stuff. Especially in .25’s. Wish I had one!
Mike
OK called him and “Mike” relayed the message to Tim.
Thank you for the advice, max.
Ironically, there’s a discussion going on in the Yellow Forum about HW and LW.
Sounds like you are experienced in setting up for the bigger bore, please share any nightmares/experiences you might have.
I haven’t heard anyone having problems with dropping in a 25 caliber barrel using the stock breach (too thin) anyone want to chime in here?
What Tim told you i totally agree and i have nothing against him, but i know what advertising is. HW is just as good as i own a few HW barrels and LW barrels.

How all starts
Lothar Walther, the founder of the Lothar Walther Gun Barrel Company, started his own factory in Zella-Mehlis (Germany) on July 1, 1925.
At this time, the towns of Zella-Mehlis and Suhl were the joint centres of the German target shooting an hunting weapons industry.
His knowledge, combined with the experience gained over many years of weapon manufacture, provided him with especial expertise in the production of button-rifled barrels.
Lothar Walther was the youngest son of Carl Walther, the founder of the world-famous gun factory, where the renowned Walther pistol was developed and produced.
After the second World War, the company transferred its activities to Koenigsbronn in the southern part of Western Germany, where it remains to the present.
Today
Equipped with the latest technical machinery, Lothar Walther currently manufactures button-rifled barrels from special gun steel and stainless steel, in more than 200 different calibres for target shooting, hunting, muzzle-loading and air guns.
These barrels are made for the whole spectrum of shooting, encompassing shooters with modest requirements right through to those who wish to compete at the highest international level.
The production program also includes:
* barrel inserts for both hunting and practising with pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns,
* combined spirit-level foresights,
* cartridge adapters, snapcaps
* Adapters for shotguns
* inspection lamps to examine gun barrels
* an cativites in general,
* target crossbows.
Up to 1996 the son of the founder, master toolmaker Klaus Walther managed the company Lothar Walther. From 1997 on his sons Dr.-Ing. Frank Walther and master craftsman of mechanical engineering Gerd Walther took over the managements of the company Lothar Walther Feinwerkzeugbau GmbH. Both gained broad engineering experience and technical knowledge by working for different companies in Germany and abroad.
LWs are made in the USA from an Austrian who immagrated to the States about 80 years ago (check that cuz I’m not sure of the exact date).
Just from reputation. Tim uses HW barrels on his Mac1 USFTs.
The HW and the LW barrels are made in Germany and nowhere else. I have no idea who gave you that history lesson but that is just a story.
Both barrels are just as good in accuracy , but Mac1 and his faulty advertising made the people think that they are better than LW barrels, because he is the importer of the HW barrels. read between the lines guys.
That place is like 20 mins from my house.
Do your self a favour and ask Tim(mac1) to make you a new breech with a bigger ID so you do not have a .25 with such thin metal at the breech side.

It’s not Tim’s faulty advert that you refer to, this is where I got my information from… http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-198841.html as well as a general consensus on this forum.
Have you personally tested the HW vs the LW head to head? Or do you have a stick up your ass against Tim for some reason?

Without a shread of a doubt the HW Barrel is the finest .22 air-rifle barrel,the next best barrel I found is the match-grade L/W and John Bowketts .But having said all this they are all as accurate as each other that I will say,the HW wins as in air-efficiancy,due to its very slippery rifling it produce’s 30-40fps just by adding it on BUT its consistency in accuracy is I found to be the best,every pellet dont matter even if I put 200 all in one go wont have not even I flyer,superb.
The anshuzts barrel is also perfect and not to go on too much they are all superb,just that for a smooth firing the HW wins hands down.:)
PS. FORGET ABOUT POLY BARRELS,THEY ARE NO MORE ACCURATE AND CAN BE VERY PELLET FUSSY.

I just took a look at that chapter and indeed they also got the opinion that this kind of riffling would be virtually the best, even if that one they’ve tested did not group very well ( it got no choke ).
The riffling Weihrauch uses on their .22 barrels comes very near to a scratched barrel. Only 6 minor marks on the pellet and a good sealing at low power. A shame that they don’t use that system on the .177 barrels. 🙁
Jochen
Yes you are 100% spot on,the HW .22 is the finest barrel for a .22 air-rifle,its consistency on accuracy super-seads the the rest ,has a edge then the rest,as I have tested the L/W barrel and John Bowketts special 22ins against the HW but I found that the hw shapes the pellet really perfect with its 6 lang riflings ,you could’nt shape the pellet as perfect as the hw barrel does and I mean it.

LW = Lothar Walther, correct?
Why/what makes HW better?

They are manufactured in GA.

Well if the breech collapses when I pinch it, I’ll let you guys know;););)
I’m surprised Tim went back to turning barrels for the .25. When i asked him if he would sell me one months ago, he said he stopped doing it weeks before that, because he felt the breech end of the barrel became to thin after turning it to fit the stock breech of AF rifles. Guess he’s changed his ways, or just didn’t want to do one for me lol. So I ended up getting one from Tony.
Weirauch = HW and they are imported from Germany

I’ll call him tomorrow. I see that it’s most likely he just doesn’t have HW’s lying around to mill and I’m not in any hurry. We’ll see how it goes.
If so you will be rocking 😀
SAW
175.00 $ Any length you want.
I asked for the HW but he says the LW will do fine.

There’s some info on the ‘net where an individual spoke directly with LW in GA and said that barrels (not all) are made there.
At any rate, I don’t think I’m going to be too unhappy with a LW barrel.
