Noticing a rattle on my Mutant
I’ll start by saying I’m fairly sure this is a new sound coming from my gun. But I may just be paranoid. When the gun is uncocked I can hear the sound of lose parts in the receiver area. Maybe a spring. When the gun is cocked I don’t hear it anymore. The reason I’m concerned is because it seems to be new sound and I was worried I may have damaged it when I took it hunting on a bitter cold day. There wasn’t any one event that would have caused it but I noticed some stiffening of the trigger in the cold. I know aluminum can be brittle in the cold as well.
Any one else have a rattle/spring sound coming from uncocked mutant? Or have an idea what might be going on? I know it’s pretty vague and the gun seems to be fine so do I just ignore it..?

Didn’t really think this worth a new thread. My question is, does anyone else experience diminished fps in 10 to 30 fps range, and also more flyers while shooting in this cold weather? I’ve been trying to get out this winter and rabbit hunt, pest control, etc. But every time I start shooting there is poi shift from cold gun, also after running thru chrony an initial fps difference of 30fps or less. The flyers appear to be spirals so may just need barrel cleaning but I didn’t think a regulated gun would have a fps shift. The fps goes back to normal after warm ing the gun indoors.
Any thoughts? Any suggestion to keep rifle warm without carrying under my coat!!

i had a rattle too and it was coming from a slightly loose baffle in the silencer.
Thats what I suspected thanks everyone for easing my mind!! Obvious noon here.. happy New year’s

Yes, it is the hammer making the noise. There is no pretension exerted on the hammer under uncocked conditions. You will hear hammer rattling sound if you “shake” the gun vigorously. The spring exerts tension on the hammer under cocked conditions and the movement of the hammer is eliminated. No worry there, it is perfectly normal.

It’s the hammer. Both the mutant and many of the FX guns have this rattle if you forcibly shake the gun back and forth . The hammer is basically floating inside. No need to worry.
That’s strange maybe termites we have them here in Hawaii too …… .. . joking.
I don’t understand how it can make a sound from just being uncocked ?
Are u applying a trigger first stage take-up pull to make this sound or are u shaking the gun ?
