Q:

o-ring on valve stem???

hey guy´s 😀
Has anyone made the o-ring modification on the valve stem???. (wich seals the bottle betwen stem and valvebody). I wonder how little the cutting chisel must be to get into the hole of the Valve body to cut the groove for that small o-ring.Does it also helpes to ruduce the noise of the gun? I have a mini lathe but dont know how to do that mod.and if it makes real sense????

I prefer more this type. I succesfully made one. Had dwg for it. 🙂

Thank you guy´s!! It looks so , that i´m not alone on this planet 😀
Best will be i try that lathecut on a brass-dummy, so that i can be sure not to ruin the valvebody by the first ,,experiment”.To use a hex key is pretty clever! I´ll try that at first.
and yes: i thougt to cut in the brassbody, and not in the valve stem when i postet my question(sorry)
if you have more ideas for that problem or to quiten that gun, please post some more infos.Thank´s to all of you!!! 😉

You might be able to do it with a mill adjustable boring tool.

I have a mill but no lathe. So I’m stuck on it.

I know that Tony does a fine job on it!

I now have a Condor valve in my Talon SS and I can tell your that it really is quiter! ( And no more air in the face!) Even while pushing out considerably more FPE!!!

Tony’s would probably last longer than the factory set-up though!!

most cut a groove into the valvebody…theres not enough material on teh stem to make a groove on that

in the beginning i used a L shaped hex key i had filed down to create an oring tool….heat till cherry read…and dip it in water or oil works fine for softer stuff like aluminium and brass…but steel and so on it will wear out after 1 groove…but hey a recharpen and treatment and your good to go

i also tried taking a rod of steel , and then i drilled it sideways…used the shanks of a broken drillbit and grinded to to shape and hammered into the rod…i havent resharpened that in a long time and it still cuts ID thread pretty ok

now i use a HSS bit that has been profiled, works great.
