O- Ring Question

As for 90 Duro o-rings…what material type are you guys using? I thought I would order some replacement rings to have on hand and found so many different types I was confused (doesn’t take much). 😳

If you don’t have the physical O ring out to measure with calipers (outside diameter, inside diameter, thickness) maybe call AirForce?

Maybe they will sell you a rebuild kit for the gun and you can measure the ones they send.

I use Viton 70 durometer O rings in my guns, but I don’t have an AirForce (yet).
The Viton 70’s are tough enough their what I use on the triple O ringed brass flat top piston I have installed in my 1377 carbine Pumper.

If its a static O ring 90 durometer might wear even longer. They can be stiff and hard to stretch around something when you replace them.
Viton 70 are easier to stretch around something to seat into the groove and work fantastically in a dynamic environment.

Clear as mud, right?

The durometer rating is the hardness of the rubber. Do not waste your money on fancy pants food grade this or that O rings. They have an additional coating on the outside that makes them next to impossible to stretch over anything.

I’m sure Tony uses the 90 durometer in his valve upgrade as that O ring sinks INTO a recess vs. stretching OVER an object to get to the O ring groove machined into the metal.

If you find out the dash sizes, please post them: that is very useful information.

If you know the various ‘dash’ sizes the best place is http://www.mcmaster.com You can buy bags of each size and have a lifetime supply of o rings on hand.
They usually ship very quickly.

i use the 90 duro Viton o-rings. you can get a large variety pack at harbor freight for around 9.00.
