Q:

Oh my pump…

My Airforce hand pump just took a crap… Spoke with a nice lady there and she gave me a return autorization to send it back she says the turn around time will be about 24 hours…Was doin some shootin today and went to top off the tank about ten strokes in I noticed a hiss on the down stroke and the pump seemed extremely stiff..I was right around 2900 psi and the checked the bleed screw all was tight — went for another stroke and the hissisng continued—decided to bleed the air off and the handle rose sharply— there has got to be some type of pressure bypass internaly— so I packed it up adaptor seals and all will be sending it out in the morning fedex–guess ill slide over to walmart to get some blue rhino co2 for the time being — well I do basically have a full tank — but its a little un-nerving not shooting at full throttle…any body else have an airforce pump crap on them— ❓

Thanks for the replies –from what ive heard the Hill pump is the way to go-the pump was purchased in June 08 from pyramyd air— will be talking to them thanks for the info…

JD, depending on how long you’ve had it, I would call them back and tell them you want to return it and put that money towards a hill. the A/F pumps are now chinese made knock offs and are crap, the older ones are acutely made by F/X and now have rebuild kits available, A/F told me they switched about two years ago to the chinese ones.

i did too… i was pumping and at around 2900 psi, the handle went very stiff and shot upwards, and it took all of mybody weight to pump it back down. only no hissing like yours did…..it still pumped air but it was almost impossible to pump that thing down. sent it back to pyramyd and had a new one about 3 weeks later

maybe a hill-pump would have been a better choise
