Q:

Oiled pellets?

Airforce recommends we use oiled pellets. Will that not affect the gun if we choose not to use oiled pellets? What are your thoughts on this?

hello
I did some test`s with washed and oiled pellets (LP1 pellet lube)and all the results were horrible. When i used Kry Tech it looked really a bit better than normal out of the tin pellets. (hope that helps you a little bit?)

I should probably send instructions with those slugs. All the Surefire slugs are made out of nearly pure lead. We add just a touch of tin to get the lead to fill the mold as perfect as possible. There is just enough tin in the lead to get consistent, good quality slugs. You can treat them like pure lead as they are probably more pure than most “pure” led slugs you will find. Personally, I use a little budget power steering fluid to lube all my slugs regardless. Thats not very sexy or expensive though, so if you want to buy some super expensive long polymer synthetic lube, well, it’s your money. My experience tells me that almost any cheap oil that doesn’t have harsh solvents in it will be fine for lubing slugs…

I knew they looked like pure lead. I’m the same Jerry with slugs and lube 8)

what about the 6, 7, 8, and 9 ring surefire slugs??

I lubed the 6 rings with KryTech and they shot the same. It should help with the leading in the long run.

I’m using Kodiaks and JSBs and so I’m hoping they don’t pose a problem to the barrel.

should be fine. With them (or any other pure lead pellet as mentioned), My barrel sees a dry patch every once in a while, but not often. never leads or takes any kind of scrubbing.

For pure lead pellets like Kodiaks or JSBs, no oil is needed.

If you shoot crosman premiers, they are a bit harder and tend to foul the bore if you shoot them too fast. Oil em up and you may not have to clean as often.

Accuracy wise, Ive thought I saw improvements going both ways. I finally settled on just cleaning the pellets and leaving them alone.

Try the KryTech wax lube. It’s better and it will not ignite in the barrel.

Won’t hurt the gun one bit. I use mine both ways.
