Here you go.. you posted you wanted to see what a real machinist makes or something like that..well this probably doesnt qualify for that but it is one of the more odds items I have made in a while..when I asked what was it I was told.. dont ask..haha..the tolerances were nuts+.0005 oal -.000 dia. +.0005 -.000.. it was made out of alum. bronze harder than a sack full of jawbreakers…. 4 inch dia. 4.25o oal..the job was actually done for another company but the print had the DOD smell… we have a missile command at Redstone Arsenal about 45 miles away..I somehow think it may have gone there..we just called it a high tech plumb bob 😆

Too bad these machines are taking machinists out of the trade. Computer geeks and swarf jockeys is where we are headed. A friend of mine was a IT guy doing software development decided to change careers and took a CNC programming course. He then bought machines with a couple partners and off they went. Shop is one machinist and twenty operators of machines with my friend doing supervision and software/hardware support. Incredible shift in the trade.

Thats a pretty nice machine. I bet i has some really high spindle speeds and quick traverse.
Otherwise thats some heavy as cable sheild for some DRO leads.
its a cnc , here is a pic from their website, I couldnt get a pic of mine with my phone, couldnt back up far enough..it looks just like this one. 😉

The lathe almost looks like an NC or CNC looking at the heavy cable tray going to the ends of the compound slides at the back of that saddle.

Machinist are you serious you do not know what that was made to fit on. I thought some of you guys were retired military. Then again, I was in the wrong section doing repairs on the A/C at the Air Force Base. Someone must have dropped the front of it so they got a new one made. I did not know it was top secret.
