Old school Paintball tank/ Scuba Tank U didn’t know about

Back in the day when paintball first converted to HPA some of the first tanks they used were scuba tanks with valves for paintball guns.

Catalina still makes a 6 cu ft (or 50.80 ci) tank that is used for an emergency or pony bottle for divers. No I don’t know what threads they have. Same as other scuba tanks I presume.

Before making paintball regulators with a “standard” smaller thread size one company used the Catalina cylinders referred to as a pony bottle above with the same threads as your AA valves. They apparently didn’t make many of them. I have only seen one of these tanks and the regulator set up on it is funky. An on/ off valve mounts to the tank and then you have either the option of an adjustable regulator or a straight foster output that mounts to that.

I will have to post pics tomorrow. It was made in April of 1996. Recently got another tank from Dec of 1996 that is identical in size but has paintball regulator threads.

At one point I was all jazzed to have a bigger tank to mount on my condor. Then I realized this tank is just ever so slightly too wide and I would have to trip the back end of my gun ever so slightly so it would fit. Then I got an etac and have since let it languish on my shelf.

If I ever get done remodeling our house I will have a second story porch overlooking a large pond to shoot from. Needless to say the coon population will be going down in the neighborhood at that point. Deer count is -1 for the year so far but that was with a compound bow (thanks to a buddy that just had to fill his tag). We get some nice blacktail bucks coming through and am determined to put one in the freezer.

Anyway I digress. Do people even still want larger tanks for their AA guns or does everyone just buy a TTTA or an etac and mount one of the Carbon fiber bottles on them now?

Boy do I need to get my condor back together and shooting properly. There are vermin to be dispatched!
