Q:

Older Talon SS Barrel Bushing

I have an older Talon SS with a 12″ barrel. The barrel has plastic bushing that seems to be molded or pressed onto the barrel. I was thinking about getting a Sound Loc kit and was wondering what is the best way to remove the old plastic bushing on the barrel without damaging the barrel.

Hey Alexander,

I don’t know if you have done anything to the front bushing yet, but if you are wanting to vent it just take a file and file a few slots along the outside of it and that will allow for the venting you desire without removing it. I have an old TSS myself with a .22 barrel and plastic bushings. My barrel is one of the barrels that was made by Eun Jin for AF.

Or if you want just vent the front bushing using a cordless drill and a drill bit. Be careful not to hit the barrel, I did this on my original 22 barrel as it too had the plastic bushings. Worked out just fine.

P.S. It is a lot simpler to drill out the removable bushings, but drilling the plastic ones is very easy, you could even do it by hand to help not hit the barrel.

Grinder and cutting wheel. Or hacksaw, Don’t saw into the barrel.
