Omega Compressor Review
I received my Omega on Thursday July 17th from PAG, my CF air tank was really low on air and I couldn’t be happier to finally get to fill my own tank. It came with all the hookups except one thing, the male to male adapter for the quick disconnects. Some people already have a male adapter on their tank, I don’t so I called up PAG and bought one from them. I wish they had sent it to me by USPS Priority mail. Would have gotten it on Saturday, instead they charged $12 to ship a little piece of metal supposedly including insurance through UPS whom do not deliver on Saturday unless they pay extra fee.
Finally got the adapter today and got the compressor working. Sorry for the long intro, now for the good stuff.
The manual that came with the unit is GARBAGE!!! It was confusing as hell. These are the steps you need to take.
1. Open the box of course and remove the unit. (78 lbs)
2. Remove the sticker that covers the Air Output
3, Locate the air hose and locate a metal washer with blue rubber inside.
3. Insert the washer then screw it into the Air Output port (clockwise)
4. Open the Water tank Cap and pour in the Antifreeze and ICE fluid that comes with the unit
5. Use “Purified Water” to fill the rest of the reservoir until it is about an inch from the top.
6. To set the desired PSI, there are two needles. You press the red button in so that it pushes the needle left or right. The first needle goes to the desired PSI. I have mine set at 4200, then the instruction says to move the second needle about 100 psi to the right of that. I am guessing this is a safety backup. The black needle represents the current pressure.
7. Set the the self draining adjust device. Basically how often you want it to bleed the moisture. The left needle is to set how long you want it open. I have it set at 5 seconds. The right needle is how often it should open. Since my compressor is sitting in an A/C room (laundry) I have it set to go off every 45 mins.
8. Connect the power cord to the unit and to the wall
8. Connect the the compressor hose to your tank. As mentioned before, I needed the male to male adapter.
9. Make sure the bleed valve is tightened.
10. Turn the power on, this will get the fan going and the water flowing into the system.
11. Push in the green button to start the compressor. Alvaro from Mexico adviced SEcoda to let the compressor reach up to the desired PSI before opening the tank. I opened it right away and the pressure quickly equalized (compressor and tank).
12. Once the Compressor reaches the desired PSI it will automatically shut off the compression, however, the unit is still on and fan/water still circulating. Manual said to let it be like this for about 10 mins before completely shutting down the unit.
13. I closed the valve on my CF tank and bled the air from there. The air pressure in the Omega goes down as well. When the needle on my CF goes down to 0, so does the needle in the Omega. After that is done, I also bleed the air from the Omega just to make sure and there usually isn’t anything left.
14. Left side of the unit is the Hour meter, OverCurrent protector and the power input

My observations
This unit is loud in my opinion. I never had the shoebox or any other compressors so I can’t compare. Suppose to be quieter than the shoebox. SEcoda describe it as an old washing machine and he is correct. Old because even when I shut my laundry door I can still hear it. Whereas the newer washers are fairly quiet and when I close the door I can barely hear it.
It emits a smell and it reminds me of the smell of soldering lead. My wife made the mistake of going into the laundry room to put stuff in the dryer and she was gagging lol. No jokes about my wife!
The unit shutoff at exactly 4200 PSI according to the pressure gauge on it but my CF tank showed 3900. My tank doesn’t have the extra gauge that tells you exactly what’s in the tank so I am guessing that’s why it is not accurate. Also the Omega’s hose is about 3 ft and my CF tank hose is another 3 ft. Lots of air left in there.
Con of this whole unit again is the instructions in the Manual. It comes with a bunch of extra parts and tools but doesn’t tell you anything about them. I was able to find videos on Youtube that shows you what to do with them.
Overall, I am very happy with the Omega. The feeling of not having to travel to the dive shop to fill my tank is priceless. If I need to drain my gun’s air tube for any reason, I don’t have to worry about running out of air.

I also posted the two turn every four hours guideline above if you missed it. I called AOA a few weeks back. Many folks are way over lubing them they said so they start sharting but it is also harder on the seals. :rofl:

I don’t know about everyone’s machine and or manual but mine seems to have been updated with the greasing frequency/procedure.
This in blue below has been crossed out.
“After every 20hours of operation use the supplied grease syringe to inject about a 1/4 inch long ribbon of grease into upper cylinder port”
This in red below has been added instead.
“2 complete turns every 4 hours of operation, when empty, please fill back up.”
According to the latest video put out by AoA the grease port should be refilled when empty to about 3/4th of the way.
Install the fill plug back but only about 1/4 of the way in, it should be sticking out like in my post picture.
Hence the 2 turns CW every 4 hours.

Also I couldn’t find anything in the manual on the bleed/drain test button.
It’s the on the Self-Draining Adjust panel with the word TEST circle in white.
You can press it when the compressor is filling, to test for moisture levels and a manual bleed.

Mine came today! What a well made unit, took about 20 min to setup, topping a tank of now Hoot: great feeling to have your own air supply!
Yes not bad at all, mine took about 5 days from AoA to Hawaii.
I top off my Cricket from 120-220 bar and it took about 2 minutes. 😀
I pined up a white towel 10″ away in the back of mines like Donny suggested to protect the back wall from the discharge, if any.
Place the Compressor on a piece of wood for easy pull/slide out accessing.
The only issue I have is I would like to used the cover it came with, but it would bend the hose down.
Instead of cutting a hole in the cover, I’m thinking of installing a male treaded male foster on it.
That way I can remove the hose to cover it and it would also make filling my friends tanks that don’t have a male foster on the tank valve easier.

Do you have a link to the R&L Diablo? I didn’t find it. Thanks. I know Randy well. Good to hear it arrived safe and sound.
Even though I use it in the conditioned air we get some humidity here at times that keeps the dehumidifier running in the basement when it rains a lot so the Diablo is good insurance.
I received my Omega SC today (06/03/2015) in perfect running condition from AoA. The box had sustained some damage to the top of the box/crate from shipping. The UPS guy made a report on it so if I have any problems I can contact AoA. UPS will pick up the damage one wail AoA sends me a replacement. But I’ve done a pressure check and so far is running great !
The Compressor came with coolant in it, but I had to top it off with water to about an inch to the top.
Connected the hi pressure hose and plug it in.
Ran the pump for couple of minutes to check for any coolant leaks.
Pressure tested to 2000 psi.
It’s pretty quiet and yes like SECoda said, it sound like an old washing machine.
No smells yet and the moisture auto bleed out discharge doesn’t seem to scare our dog.
My Omega 75 cu/ft tank is on 3-4 week back order from AoA.
The Diablo Air Dry System is coming from R&L any day now.
If you purchase the Omega SC from AoA it has already been tested.

Just a precaution for those who recently purchased an Omega. I have about 15 hrs on mine and creeping up on the 1 yr mark. I don’t normally use the bleed valve on my unit because it is easier to bleed it from my CF tank. The other day while adding more fluid into mine, I was giving it a look over just to make sure everything was still good. I had a hard time unscrewing the bleed valve and had to use a wrench. I think the screw is made of brass and it corroded. Tried to clean it the best I could but still not the same. The bad part is that the inside where the screw goes in, there’s some build up in there as well and now when I try to screw in the bleed valve and transfer some air into the compressor, I can hear a small hiss. The corrosion is preventing a good seal. Going to give Precision Air Guns a call later this morning to see what they can do since I am still within the 1 yr warranty. Like with anything in this hobby, make sure to give everything a look over once in a while.
Although I live in a humid state, my compressor is located in the laundry room where temperature is kept at 78 degrees.
