thanks Ville for introduced me to the DELTA scopes …

i just watched this vid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz3y1GirgPU) belong to OpticstradeEU (( http://www.optics-trade.eu/shop/en/riflescopes/delta-optical-titanium-3-24×56-ed-rifle-scope.html?___from_store=int ))

above vid and link is a latest Delta Optical Scope ,,,they made in Japan,,,, with a plenty of very very great features for a very reasonable price,,, i cannot find such a great features with any other brands for the same price,, just go through both links vid and web,,, if this scope would come with a FFP ,,then it almost hit most scopes ,,, maybe i am wrong,,, maybe right,,,

and it is really amazing and i just bought one of Delta scopes 6-24X42 SFP ,,,,it has really a clear and crisp view ,,,,,

this web also is very great to deal with,,, i bought 2 scopes from them and the scopes were in my city within only 2 days,,, WOW,,, i was checking the track number and found that here ,,, WoW,,,

also i got a good discount for almost all the brands from them (Opticstrade.eu),,, and tax free as well,,, i can get this scope with a very good price ,,, !! who needs help ? let me know,,,

I’d say quite the opposite; if those limited elevation travel specs are true they’d be best suited for short range powder burners that get zeroed at 100Y or 200Y and used inside of 350Y or so for “hold it on the fur” type of shots… for long range powder burners you want as much elevation travel in the scope as possible to dial elevation for longer shots!

Scopes meant for long range powder burner use usually work excellent on air rifles because they have a LOT of elevation travel so it’s not only easy to get a zero but you’ll still have enough elevation travel left to dial for those 100, 125, 150, 175Y+ shots. The drawback many powderburner scopes have is 50Y minimum parallax which is VERY much a problem for air rifle use in my experience.

I’m starting to question the elevation travel specs for the Delta scopes on the Optics Trade webpage; they all seem to be extremely limited in elevation travel, moreso than most “modern” scopes. One of the models you linked (the 4.5-14 x 44FFP) only shows 34MOA of total elevation adjustment which is *EXTREMELY* limited; perhaps they meant 34 mils and not 34 MOA since the scope has 0.1 mil knobs? You may want to email them and verify before spending any money.

In order to zero a scope on an Edgun R3 or R3M with the 0.5 degree / 30 MOA canted scope rail, without using any kind of offset or adjustable rings, I would recommend a scope with no less than 21 mils / 72MOA of total elevation travel, preferably a little more. I base this on having 2 R3s and 1 R3M over the last couple of years and knowing what it took to get each one zeroed at 50Y. Even then with 21 mils / 72 MOA of elevation travel the scope will be near the bottom of the available elevation travel with a 50Y zero– but that leaves plenty of elevation travel available to dial up for longer shots which is why Ed machines the rifles with the 0.5 degree / 30 MOA canted scope rail.

While zeroing near the bottom of the elevation travel is usually just fine some inexpensive scopes start having optical distortion and/or mechanical issues when run near the ends of their elevation travel range. I can’t speak for the Delta scopes as I’ve never used one.

If you use Burris Signature Zee 30mm rings with the +/- 0.010 offset inserts, assuming 4″ spacing between the scope rings, that is the equivalent of about 18MOA of cant. You can use this to decrease the effective cant in the R3/R3M scope rail from 30MOA to about 12MOA which reduces the amount of elevation travel needed in the scope to zero the rifle. This is good if your scope has limited elevation travel or if it has optical and/or mechanical issues when the elevation erector is pushed near the bottom of its travel.

50MOA vertical adjustment is, in all likelihood, not enough for an airgun.

Really it’s only 25MOA if when you mounted its at it’s optical center.

With my EdGun in 177 a 64MOA scope did not have enough turret to zero the rifle…

That 600 reticle would be great for holding over with wind. Very much like a Schmidt & Bender reticle I saw a while ago. :8:

I learned 1 mile+ long range shooting on a scope reticle much like the 600 you pictured, in all honesty there isnt a better reticle for shooting at extreme ranges but they may not serve much of a purpose for air rifles seeing as the delta scopes are meant for 338 lapua rifles and not air rifles.

10Y parallax is perfect; they should update the web page! I prefer reading spec sheets over having to watch a video. Of course, that doesn’t help if the spec sheet is wrong. πŸ˜€

Now, regarding zeroing concerns with the limited elevation travel (if the listed 50MOA elevation travel is correct, both Optics Trade and Deltas web page say 50MOA.)

Assuming the spec on the webpages are correct, there is only 50MOA of elevation travel available in that scope. That means about 52 inches of total elevation adjustment at 100Y or 26 inches of total elevation adjustment available at 50Y.

Let’s assume you have an Edgun R3 and want to zero the rifle at 50Y. Ed has machined a 0.5 degree (30 MOA) cant on the scope rail of the R3 & R3M to bias the scope near the bottom of the available elevation travel so there is plenty of room to “dial up” the elevation turret to make longer shots.

If the gun is built properly and shooting straight and you just mount the scope and leave it at the optical/mechanical center and take a shot at 50Y the pellet will impact approximately 30MOA / 15.5 inches low. (Remember, this is ideal, for now we’ll ignore tolerance stack ups in building the rifle, scope height over bore, and pellet drop from muzzle to 50Y isn’t a real big factor.)

Thus to zero the rifle you’ll need to adjust the scope 30MOA up from mechanical/optical center… but the scope in question only has 50MOA total elevation travel. Thus it has +/- 25 MOA of adjustment from mechanical/optical center. The scope will allow you to adjust 25MOA up until it runs out of travel leaving the 50Y pellet impact 5 MOA / 2.6 inches low.

In order to zero the rifle & scope at 50Y and not have the scope totally bottomed out on the elevation knob you’ll need to decrease the amount of cant (raise the front of the scope); best way to do this would be with Burris Signature Zee rings.

Of course, in real life the rifle and scope both have some tolerance stacking; the scope may have a little more or a little less than 50MOA of travel, the rifle may shoot a little higher or lower than the nominal 30MOA canted rail would indicate, etc. The tolerance stack up may work in your favor and the rifle may shoot a little higher than the numbers would indicate and you could achieve a zero; or it may shoot a little lower than the nominal numbers and you run out of elevation travel even earlier than expected.

It just seems odd to me Delta would put out a scope with a very limited 50MOA elevation travel when many scopes in the same price range have 85-100+ MOA of elevation travel available.

Also, the LR600 reticle doesn’t look very good to me, it seems to be poorly executed. Look at the Bushnell G2DMR or the Vortex EBR-2C for a better executed tree-type reticle. I also question the reasoning behind Delta putting a “christmas tree” type reticle that encourages holdovers on a SFP scope where the units on the reticle are only true at a specific magnification. With an SFP reticle that means different reticle holdover / windage amounts depending on the current magnification level and if you’re shooting at a magnification level different than the “calibrated” magnification you’ll have to apply a correction factor to your windage & holdover amounts so they are correct. A holdover/christmas tree type reticle is far more useful on an FFP scope since the reticle remains the same scale at all magnification levels.

Finally, the 3-24 x 56 has extremely limited erector travel (50MOA); you probably won’t be able to zero it on an R3 Edgun with a canted scope rail without Signature Zee rings or similar.

No No,, if you watch the first video that i put here n the 1st post ,,,you see that they have a 10 meter to inf parallax not 50 meter to inf,,,they have mentioned in the web by mistake,,,

i didn’t get this part,,, can you explain it more,,, i not that skill man in scopes ,,so still i am learning,,, why i cannot zero with a scope that has 10 parallax scope or let say i cannot understand the (50 MOA ) ????

You opinion is good enough for me. Is the difference significant or only small.

I find the difference between my Hawke SWs on clarity and the new Aeon, and my NF NSF 8-32 or Leupold Tactical 8.5-25×50 are pretty minor. I was just prairie dog hunting switching back and forth between the Aeon 10-40×50 and the Leupold Long Range with both set on 25x (although I kicked the Aeon up to 32x most of the time). I preferred using the Aeon because it had a better reticle for windage but the Leupold is ever so slightly clearer at the high magnification. It’ is not $1000+ better, however, since the LT cost me about $1400 back then. 😯

Nothing wrong with 1cm @ 100M clicks (0.1 mil) but I wouldn’t put that 3-24 x 56 Delta on an air rifle because it only offers 50M parallax. If you do all of your shooting at 50M and beyond that’s OK but for the closer shots inside of 50M you’ll need to dial the magnification down to keep the image somewhat in-focus and you will have some amount of parallax error inside of 50M.

It is just too heavy for me to have any interest at 36.8 oz. — 1045 grams it is a chunk. A hawke with better glass comes to mind ?? I would like to see lighter and maybe the compromise come from a 3x zoom maybe 8-24 as I rarely use 3 to 6 power anyway. I see air rifles as needing to make very precision shots due to low energy to make clean kills so I am on 10 or 20x most all the time.
