Q:

One powder burners view of air rifles…What do you think?

Found this on the “other color” forum. Interesting opinion about, as he calls it, “Cats and Dogs”.

the shroud isn’t plastic… the tapered piece in the back is and thats it. the rest is steel or aluminum as is the cap for the end.

I own the Hunter Extreme and have been overall happy with it after it was tuned. I only shoot heavy lead through it and I DO/ HAVE hunted hogs with it. A couple Deer and Turkeys also. They were only 1 shot kills also.

😈 😈 😈 might have taken them an hour to die, but they were only 1 shot kills. < bad joke – I’m a good hunter and this was NOT the case 😈 😈 😈

Its hard for most people to go in-between the Air – Burner ordeal. I shoot a crossbow and compound bow also. The first firearm I owned as a child was a 22lr. Learned to shoot on a 22lr revolver – then it was up to a 30 06

Should have reviewed a Talon in 22 for that much cash, would have walked away with a TOTALLY different opinion.

He reviewed a marauder and that was a positive one….

Not to mention the guy that was considering spending the $500 on the Gamo is probably happy the reviewer didn’t skip this for a Talon.

I don’t see any problem with this guys review at all.

Anyone who takes offense is likely a little too “sophisticated” and doesn’t appreciate that guns to most folk are tools, seeing any suggestion other than to go out and spend $1000 on a .22 airgun when the guy just wants to shoot a few pests and would be better served with a .22lr as an affront.

P.S – He probably bought the pellets at a Bass Pro, Gander Mountain or Cabelas store where they are that expensive.

A $500 Gamo break barrel…

Should have reviewed a Talon in 22 for that much cash, would have walked away with a TOTALLY different opinion.

Gamo, giving airguns a bad name since the early 90’s… 😆 They do make a great ‘gateway’ gun though. From there it’s a small step to a pcp. 😉

But ag’s do have their time and place, I certainly can shoot my pellet rifle where I can’t shoot my 1022… Not to mention the difference in cash between a box of high end 223 or 22LR and a tin of high end pellets… 😯

$15, 500 pellets (3 cents/round)
$20, 20 rounds of 223 ($1/round)
$50, 500 rounds of 22LR (10 cents/round)

yea, i saw that…his pellet dealer is takin him for a ride…one can buy cphp in 177 cal for about 1.2 cents a piece, and theyre some of the finest pellets money can buy…

“twelve cents per shot cost of pellets, three times that of a 22 long rifle round” Wonder where that Douche Bag buys his ammo? I would sell him some of mine for 6 cents a piece as a matter of fact as many as he wants…. Too bad he didn’t get to shoot a decent gun.

fine, ill open the can… PLASTIC SLEEVES ON THE BIG CAT BARREL?!? THE MOST HORRIBLE TRIGGERS THIS SIDE OF THE HEMISPHERE? KILLING HOGS WITH A 5 GRAIN .177 PELLET? id sooner buy a bunch of chinese springers and tune the hell out of them, and theyd be actually worth what gamo charges for their “bone collector rifles”. wonder what they paid doug koenig to sponsor these POS guns? i dont shop at dicks just because terry bradshaw used to be their spokesperson, and i live in pittsburgh! dizzy bastards, youd never think they were affiliated with BSA…OK, i need a valium…

It would seem that for them to make such a general statement that surely has no “common sense” added into the mix they are gearing their pitch towards those who don’t know any better, i.e. those who have no clue like half the people I deal with that own gamos or bought one for their kids who say, “it shoots over 1600 fps almost like a firearm” 🙄 Anyway, I did not open this “Gamo” bashing can of worms 😆

80 grit they had a commercial where they killed a hog with it so yes Gamo says you can kill a hog. I am sure you can but it is rediculous not to get a bigger more powerful gun to dispatch hogs! 😳

Whoever advocated a Gamo whatever for Hog hunting??? That is the first I ever heard that.
