OOPS! How to trash a chrony
Now that I’m set up, I went out to run some numbers for my SS on my chrony and forgot about how high the freaking scope is on this thing ๐ณ
Actually is was kind of funny. I thought “That’s weird that I completely missed the target.” Then I looked at the chrony and thought “The battery can’t be going out alrady, I just put a new one in.” Then ๐ฏ and @^#$&!!!

Yes, even better.
shaky, my chrony was 3 feet from my muzzle. I was shooting with elbows on my truck hood and sighted at my markings on the rods marked at 6 inches for sighting for my other airguns with scopes , which works with them. The talon drops the muzzle down lower than this as you can see. ๐
If I had the muzzle on a rest , yes, it probably wouldn’t have happened. Having the chrony close actually increases the likelihood that you will misjudge where the muzzle is.
I’ve often seen on various forums where people shoot their chronies. Not having one, I’m sort of curious as to how that happens, especially with air rifles. Are you not able to place a chrony within a couple of feet of the rifle barrel? And I guess I’m assuming here, but doesn’t one put his rifle on a shooting rest when shooting through a chrony? As mentioned, I don’t have a chrony,…..just hoping to benfit from your answers…..for that one I’ll own some day.

i think its best to get some kevlar for chronies or get the master instead ๐
I shot mine like 4 or 5 times with a .177cal and it still works. I have been very careful not to shoot it with the Condor.
Hell, Im not gonna make Talon parts anymore. It sounds like there is money in making chrony shields.

So does the face of the chrony that you show in your photo have a solid metal housing or is it still cut out under the label?
The master series has a seperate box with the readout in it connected by a telephone style cord. You can set the Chrony 20 feet away and have your readout right next to you.
Nugler, if I had the master series, I guess I would have been ok because it looks like there’s no lcd on the face. Does the metal housing cover the whole face on yours or is there still a cutout behind that sticker?
I shot mine the 2nd day I had it. By the grace of God, I just barely nicked the top of it.

I gotta respond to this one! I did it too, but I didn’t kill it. Mine has a couple of dings. The first one made me feel really stupid. But the second hit really had me kicking myself. For me it happened because I had not used one in years, and, well after all, it’s just an airgun…can you say arrogant ๐ So, after re-learning how to set up a chronograph, I haven’t shot it again since. The LEXAN shield is a great idea. The height of the scope above the bore doesn’t help at all. You’re a real honest man Pilgrim, and you have more company than you think on this one. ๐
