Clay wont hold up to repeated shots.

That’s an interesting statement; and patently false – as far as I can tell. I have
over 1500 rounds into the same block of clay and it doesn’t show signs of
petering out as of yet. That would seem – to me at least – to sufficiently hold
up to “…repeated shots…”

I guess it comes down to “What are your criteria for …repeated shots…” and
what testing have you done to make the statement? Inquiring minds and all… 😉

In the end, do as you will, but the costs alone side with clay.

My test was that I tried it myself at first about 5 years ago, and after a a single group the pellets had gone right through.

That will eventually happen even with duct seal, but not after just 5 shots on top of each other. Maybe your just a bad shot and have never had a pellet land in the same place even after 1500 shots 😀

An electrical supply center will have the duct seal for less than a Home Depot or Lowes.

I made mine 3 years ago and it has thousands of shots into it and is fine. It sits outside all year long and it will sit there for years to come.

I have the clay and am gonna use it. I was thinking about stealing the patent on that wooden box! LOL
I will put a few hundred rounds in mine a month will let you know how it holds up. LOL
I am putting mine in front of the trap I currently use so it will be fine even if something went through.

I was thinking about making a wooden box was not sure how it would hold up. Many here say use the eletrical boxes (metal) Now I am going to go home from work and copy your design if thats ok? I use a 4 layer plywood trap now with layers of carpetting in front of it.

Go with the duct seal – Clay wont hold up to repeated shots.

Here’s on a friend made for me

its fun to shoot the clay

$8.99 for a 25 lb block of clay. 😉

I bought 16 lbs for about 32$ should be more than enough.

How much is that duct seal stuff?

Less than $2 a stick…

Congrats Shane!! You’ll love it.

Also, the modeling clay works great! I’ve had my trap together for several
months now and have left it out in the weather for the last month without
covering holes punched. The clay continues to be both pliable and soft; and
effectively stops pellets.

The really good news there is… Modeling clay is dirt cheep compared to the
electrical putty. 😉

It costs alot but my mother in law works at AC MOORE and I got 70% off on a one day sale. The clay is awesome, it shows wound channel and all.
I shot it sideways (in front of my trap) without being contained. Forget it right thru about 3 inches of the stuff. It left a hole large enough to put my pinky in! The pellet was a little mushroomed and bent over at the head. I used round nosed kodiac extra heavies. I am going to get a box to put it in. How much is that duct seal stuff?

Use this stuff instead! From Home Depot…

It is on the electrical dept, just under the Wirenuts.

Here is the directions for making a trap w/it: By WOK…

Get ready for SICK power. I was shooting modeling clay last night with mine (got it last month). 5.75 inches of penetration in modeling clay!
The pellet was a bit deformed, these guns are awesome!
Beware you cannot get enough goodies for your air gun!
Good luck with it hope you get your stuff ASAP it would be killing me!

I was thinking bout getting some of that modeling clay stuff is it fun to shoot?

congrats buddy I have had mine for 2 1/2 years now and I still get excited every time I shot hold of think bout her 😆
