Opticsplantet WTF
I placed an order for a scope with Opticsplanet and this is what happened?
Called to check price and availability?
They said scope available, with 5% discount, will ship today. Completed transaction. Checked my bank account, confirmed, money transfered.
Opticsplanet to send emails confirming order and email with tracking number.
That day received email confirming purchase order and was shipped. No tracking number.
Next day get email order on “HOLD” need your response? Opticsplanet needs statement that I am not sending scope out of country and intended use of said scope. I returned email and called, said everything ok will ship tomorrow?
Today get another email, order on “HOLD” need your response. This email stated opticsplanet needed to do a test transfer of a small amount of $$ so I could confirm that transaction and return call to them of this transaction and only then could they ship my scope. Only other option was to cancel order and reorder using “PAYPAL” or “GOOGLE ????” for payment…………?
WTF. I canceled the whole deal and will be ordering my scope from another company.

tell them you are building a very small nuclear weapon, but it’s purely for recreational use only so don’t worry.
when you hang up be sure to wish them a happy easter, the translation is “allah ak bar” and it’s best done at a very loud voice, as loud as you can muster, with a squeaky tone to it. Dirty Harry does it really well.

The .fm was probably the issue all along.
I reordered today, talked to them and explained what happened. Got email to confirm my use and am not sending out of country. Got another email needing to explain why I have an “International email address”…?
Returned email explaining I had no idea my email was an “International email address”? I use fastmail.fm simply because it is Free.

Thats odd… but they are legit… sounds like a mistake on someones part.
I’ve ordered a few things from them, had one problem with damaged item and it took a couple of email’s back and forth for them to get what the problem was, but they dealt with it ok.
It showed back saturday of that week.

That’s why it spooked me! My ebanking showed money had been transferred out of my account and 3 days later the opticsplanet person said no it had not? Was why they needed to do a test transfer of a small amount.

Thats a little odd.. they preauthorize and its all set – that money is pretty much their’s.
Maybe they’ve had a lot of people saying their debit card was stolen in that area/with that bank ?

I can maybe see it for PayPal, but for a retailer? Forget it.
Thats only to confirm bank account’s – once done you dont need to do it ever again, unless you add a new bank account.
Condor, are you paying by a debit transfer or a debit/credit card?
I can see them doing that for a transfer….
Paypal does the same thing. They send some odd amount under 50 cents to your account and you then confirm the transfer.
