Q:

Ordered me a new saddle/truck gun today

Stoeger 12 ga, 2-3/4″ & 3″ double barrel side by side Coach gun, 20″ barrels, hammerless, single trigger, screw in chokes of IC and M. Should be an awesome and compact bad ass little scattergun.

The 16 inch is Federal law. And you don’t use two different fingers for the triggers on a double. Unless you are wanting to fire both barrels at once. 😯 Hell of a Kick! You just got’ta learn how to chew bubble gum and walk at the same time! 😆 Not a blond moment gun. 😉

Trouble with single triggers is that you can’t have instant selection of which choke you use. The very reason of using a double in the first place.
I love em! 😀 You just can’t beat a double for up land game shooting. Instant selection of choke for far and near.

Ad to this, many single triggers are recoil actuated. (AKA browning). when using low powered shells like quail loads, they some times fail to set the trigger for the second bbl. Causing you to have a single shot shot gun until you break it open again. A real problem in a tight shooting situation where you are swinging fast and have a shot which takes some of the load off of the shoulder stock. Such in fast passing shots.

Good looking gun 😉 😀

checked one out at gander mountain today, was very hard to walk out emptyhanded

Nice gun!
Well worth the extra bucks for the screw in choke and nicer wood.
How’s the single trigger work? Is that slide switch on top just behind the breach a selector switch for left-right-both?

Very Cool! And a good price for it too!

Here in Al a shotgun must have a certain length barrel UNLESS it has a pistol grip instead of a stock. If it has the pistol grip it is considered an AOW (all other weapons) and you have to pay a $5 tax for it when you buy it.

That lets you get a supershorty: 6.5″ barrel and 16″ overall. 12 guage. 😀

Edit: I actually think that may be a national law, falling under ATFE specs, so unless your local area has different laws that should be how it goes for most others as well. I could be wrong though.

As soon as it gets here, I’ll do just that and post them for you. As for the chokes, they offer only the following chokes at $22 each:

80 Grit,
His shotgun was probably illegal if chopped to the length you mentioned at the forearm. Texas law makes it illegal to possess a rifle with a less than 16″ barrell, a shotgun with a less than 18″ barrel, or any rifle or shotgun altered to be overall less than 26″ in length.

Thanks for the reply triggerman.

Triggerman post some pics of the pattern when you get it. I’d like to see what it does with buckshot, thats mostly what we use here deer hunting. Do they offer full or extra full tubes for them?

Nice side by side! My uncle had one like that, it was “sawed off” and really short. I recall it was sawed off right at the end of the forearm. I wonder, what is the legal length on those?? I know his was surely illegal, but I was just curious as to the legal length.

ive heard these are really nice guns. just cant beat the side by side, the classic lines oooohhhh so sweet!!! home defense at its best, bird shot in the right barrel and nice payload of #2s in the left / give me the bad guys. kingpin

That’s gonna look real cool when you pull over some thug and step out of your popo car and grab that mutha!! I can imagine no more trying to out run the cops…seems like the 9’s,40’s and even the 45’s dont have much effect on them when they decide the make a run for it..stuff it with some Winchester AA super handicap #9 shot so you can pepper all 5 of them at once… if they charge you a shot that close will look like you shot them with a hollow point 50 cal…

Coach guns rule!

LOVE those coach guns .. bad to the bone when you drop both hammers at once. I used to have one made by Richland Arms .. should’ve never sold it.

We have an independently owned sporting good center here in town called Field & Streams. I was in there Monday to get them to find me a single trigger coach gun and after they called all over the US, told me nobody makes the coach sized gun in single trigger. They are an authorized Stoeger dealer and we looked in their 09/10 sales catalog and it is not listed.

I just stumbled across a dealer called Ables Ammo in Huntsville Tx last night on the internet and they had a photo of one on their site.

Called them this morning and got the stock # and had Field & Stream call the Stoeger factory this morning. They are the only company offering a just released single trigger coach gun and have not notified all their dealers of the new addition. Stoeger put it on a truck this morning and supposed to be here in 4-5 days.

I would definatly go with the screw in choke deal.
Do you mind telling me where ya got it, cause I like it 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈
Big 5 or something?

Later-
