Q:

Oring kit for Kaliber Cricket!

Had a leak in my Cricket 22 cal short, there is a great video on youtube for tearing one down and assembling it, very good one! HIs name is Ernest Rowe. Anyway thought I would pass that along to anyone that wants to tear it down for a leak or adjusting the vavle he has on for that also. My quesion is does anyone have a complete list of all the orings for the Kaliber Cricket? I think I got my leak fixed with the ones that came with my gun but the kit does not include all of them. If anyone has a list I would appreciate if you would let me know. Thanks Eddie

Had another member leak repair on the fill cap, it was o tight to unscrew so had to use a strap wrench to unscrew the fill cap, what I saw was the o-ring kinda spilt in half, I think some one installed a thicker 24.5 CS o-ring, I tried that o-ring for testing but was to hard to push in by hand so the only way it will go in is by force. there is a raised edge before the sealing surface so if the o-ring is to thick it will get cut on the way in.

Thanks for the .22 probe o-ring size.

90 Duro is to hard for the probe, its not good for a thin skirt pellet, and make it harder to close the lever. I think its only good on the reg piston–there is a adjustable brass retainer that can give it more expansion.

I am not scared for myself. I respect the hell out of these pressures. I am a certified scuba diver and know of one death from carelessness with a scuba tank. One of these tanks is an incredible bomb but some folks (One I know who just uses a hand pump) doesn’t realize what 4500 psi is capable of (it took out the entire room with fragments from a 3300 tank) and some just won’t listen. 😳

Oh don’t be scared just use your brains, my theory now! before doing anything to the inside of the air tube, bleed it off before you touch anything else! and don’t get in a hurry working on pcp’s and think about evey move you make, once it is drained of air it is as save as anything to work on! :3:

Thanks, for the list.

I been repairing a lot of leak, so I upgraded to a better O-rings to Viton V75 0-ring and some Duro 90 on the high wear 0-rings.

they cost more but worth it, been using them for weeks with no failure to note.

will list them later.

Ernest

Which ones are considered “high wear” ? The ones on the regulator? Inside the barrel? Fill port? The higher the rating means that they are harder right?

1. Rotor: The o-ring on the unregulated pressure side of the piston rotor o-ring is a static seal that I replace with a 1.9mm X 3.8MM Buna-N 90 o-ring. that the hardest working o-ring in the air tube, its seal out up to 300B pressure while the rotor in motion when you take a shot, the regulated side of the rotor is 2mm X 10mm V70 Viton o-ring.

2. Regulator OD: on the high pressure side is use 3mm X 24 mm V75 Viton O-ring and on the regulated air side OD I used 3mm X 24MM Buna – N70

3. Air valve end cap: this o-ring seals only regulated air so only 3mm X 24mm Buna N70 required.

4. Fill Valve end cap: this o-ring is subject to 300B pressure so I used 3mm X 24mm V75 Viton.

5. fill check valve: this o-ring is subject to 300B 1.5mm X 3mm V75 Viton

6. Gauge: subject to 300b pressure 2mm X 9.5mm V75 Viton

7. barrel breech end: 1.5mm X 10.5mm X2 Buna-N70

8. air valve to action: 1.5mm X 16mm X 2 Buna-N70

9. barrel probe o-ring .25 cal 1.5mm X 6.5mm Buna-N70

10. Fill probe o-ring: 1.5mm X 3.5mm X2 V75 Viton

11. Barrel probe o-ring .22 cal ???? looking

Ernest thanks again for your great video one the Cricket, thanks to you I got into it and felt like I knew what I was doing, got all the orings changed except for the air guage and no leaks, so as soon as Steve sends me the round wrench to take off the gauge I will just change it out just becasue!. I had the outer oring on the front cap, where gauge is at it was in very bad shape, tore up and dry with some small peices missing! very bad shape, not sure why never been into this and really haven’t shot it that much. probably 1,500 shots or so I don’t consider that alot of shooting?

One more thing to add to your oring list which I appreciate you listing that and that is my bolt probe oring on my 22 cal, took that out to look at it and did not have one in the kit they sent along with several others? anyway here is what I measured it to be and did it with a method that works well for me, it is 1.5 x 5.5 so you can list that one on your list. Also is there a reason you don’t use 90 durometer orings? to hard?

You’re scaring me. I need some alcohol now. 😯 I get nervous when I watch others take these guns apart on video. A few don’t realize the danger.

quote eddieirvine:

you are right, not much room for it to slide in but I will look at mine Sunday and when I get the tool from Steve look and see what it will take to make one, like you said conduit or aluminum pipe might work, I am not sure what you would do if you run into one that is really tight! I had a senior moment today, I have had my Cricket apart about three times for an air leak and tweaking the valve a bit, so I started to take off the end cap to check the oring on the gauge cap end, I wondered why it was so tight? then it dawned on me, air still in the cyl, glad it was tight, you really do have to think about what the hell you are doing on these guns with the pressure we are dealing with, and bleeding them is always the first thing I do! I yelled at myself the rest of the day dam moron!!

Yea I’d like to buy one OR make a makeshift removal tool.

Just to let you guys know, I asked Ernest where he got his tool to remove the air gauge on the air tube of the Cricket, he told me WW airguns, I called Steve and he said he had a couple but instead of spending the money on one he said he would just send it out to me to use, the deal was if anyone else needs to use it I would just ship it to them so it will make its rounds to people that need it! I thought that was quite cool of him to do this. Anyway I did tell him if I might check it out when I get done with it and make one, I was a machinist for 40 years so I will check it out. Anyway this is the reason I bought a Cricket from him he does these kinds of things all the time and is a great guy to deal with!

That’s cool…please look into machining one…if you come up with a working socket I will buy one…I don’t need one this moment but I like to be prepared. I was thinking of this last night, it looks as if the gauges face is smaller in diameter than the body, and the body has a flat sides where I assume that socket makes contact to unscrew. I thought maybe if you found the right diameter conduit or copper pipe and cut the slots and flatten the sides a bit if it would work. It didn’t look as if Ernest had to put much pressure to unscrew, but he may have worked on that one in the vid before so I don’t know.

After spending hundreds of dollars on O-rings I finally have the perfect kit for the Cricket.

Will post the size soon, the source: http://www.theoringstore.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=368&zenid=042946910322b91b37ae5a918141416e

Sounds good Ernest also where did you get the guage removal tool looks like tool you bought from Kaliber if so where did you get it I need one, this looks like the only way to get the guage off? thanks Eddie

Gaugae removal tool, got it from steve at WW airguns—think he has more?

I ordered some based on the diagram. Here are the sizes I ordered:
10 x N1.60X002.8 Buna-N 70 O-ring (N1.60X002.8) $3.00
10 x 2mm X 10mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N2.00X010) $1.20
10 x 1.5mm X 17mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N1.50X017) $1.50
10 x 1.5mm X 11mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N1.50X011) $1.20
10 x 1.5mm X 5.5mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N1.50X005.5) $1.10
10 x 2mm X 4mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N2.00X004) $1.00
10 x 3mm X 24mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N3.00X024) $2.30
10 x 1.5mm X 29mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring (N1.50X029) $3.00

They should arrive tomorrow so I’ll update if they aren’t the right sizes. I know that the o rings for the magazine are a half size smaller than what’s on the diagram. The oring store didn’t stock 1.5X29.5…at least not that I found. I figured a half size smaller would work better than a half size bigger. It may just add a little more effort to push the pellet in the breach.
