Orings or washers behind tophats? Comments please.
Hi all,
I’ve currently got a rubber Oring sitting behind my tophat which seems to be working well. The problem is the rubber Oring will sooner or later fail and then I might get tank dump before I realize. So I’m going to try a washer instead which seems a more permanent solution. But what kind of washer should I use. Plastic or metal? Presumably a plastic washer could also fail but it would seem more cushioning and in that sense more like a rubber Oring than a metal washer. Perhaps quieter as well?
I am very new to PCPs but having a lot of fun finding my way.

They sell nylon washers at the hardware store. If they are to thick you can sand then down on a piece of sand paper on a flat surface. I use delrin and cut then on lathe. Everyone of my valves has one to limit the movement.
Even on regulated .25 and .30. I just start adding until it effects fps. Then back off a few thousands. I think the .30 is at .060″ or .070″. The rest of the gap is just wasted air and more noise.
