Q:

oxygen tank?

I just got two oxygen tanks and one has a valve on it. Just wondering would they work to fill the gun? I know they are small but the price was good FREE :biggrinn: The valve has a gauge and is good for up to 3000 PSI All I need is a hose. Thanks

A tank is a tank as far as pressure is concerned. But, to be safe, you need to make sure that all the pure O2 is purged out of the tank before you start introducing air from any compressor … but ESPECIALLY from the Shoebox since there is no filtering system. Normally the O2 tanks have a specific type of valve and will need a specific filler. Good luck.

I would just use these with a shoebox compressor and not pure O2. Just wondering about the gauge if it was a “K” type. The worst is all I get is a 3000psi gauge with a nice rubber boot.

Hmmm, are you talking about filling the gun with oxygen (bad idea), or converting an oxygen cylinder for use with air (may also be a bad idea).

The compressed gas industry goes to great lengths to prevent incorrect connections among gas cylinders. Every type of gas has standard fittings that don’t interchange with fittings for other gasses. For example, oxygen fittings are all left-hand threaded.

Also remember that, the cylinder needs an up to date inspection (hydro test) just the same as any other high pressure cylinder.

I’d be interested to hear what someone in the high pressure gas business has to say.
