Q:

P-Rod’s Coming

New P-Rod arrives tomorrow. What do I want to do to it & where do I get the parts? Already spoke with Tony re: a stock if the thing turns-out to be a shooter.

Thanks, folks! I’ve been away for awhile (became quite involved with my “other” powder-burner hobby), but it’s good to be back. Lots of knowledge on this forum, not to mention the entertainment factor. Wish the P-Rod arrived yesterday . . . it’s gonna rain all weekend here . . . again.

Here’s what I found. Check it against Scotts post above.

In my opinion, this was a major influence in increasing performance.

The TP is a big help as well. Another definite update is to grind out the barrel port and the valve port. You have to be careful not to go nuts here, just enlarge them to come closer to the larger Transfer Port. With the two last adjustments the FPS goes up to 900 to 1000 FPS. Sixteen shots max, but what the hell….900+ FPS from a 12″ barrel!!!

Jim Gaska has the device to screw in the back and put an airsoft collapsible or folding AR stock on it. I tried both. I favored the folding stock at about $35.00. Further, he has an add-on moderator extension.

Have fun and tell us your results. What I’ve posted I tried and I know you can go to 800 FPS, the last two I just learned about from a Youtube contact and exchange of info and data.

UPDATE: I just ordered another GMAC spring for my own use and Scott had the site address dead on. Thanks Scott!

Thanks, Hoot! a friend is going to machine several new ports for me so I can experiment. I’ll check in to the spring.

LMT: “P” as in pistol (soon to be carbine; if I want to shoot a short gun, I use my Izzy.).

Two things will immediately increase your performance from high 600’s with 18gr pellets to around 800 fps.

The first is a GMAC 22XX spring kit and it is easy to replace, just a couple of screws to get to. Google Gmac Air Guns, cost is about $15.00 delivered from England. Fast service. Here’s an old post on where to order them:

Replace the OEM spring with this: http://www.gmaccustomparts.com/epages/BT3197.sf/sec452f7b6e97/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3197/Products/CPHS1

It is a 22xx spring. comes with a rod…discard the rod and just replace the hammer spring with the GMAC and you will be getting 800+ fps for two good mags, plus high power for the third.

This isn’t a gimmick. I did it and so have several others. The results are repeatable. The GMAC spring costs about $12.50 USD and arrives in a couple weeks via air mail. GMAC is ultra reliable British supplier.

You won’t believe the results. I’ve done this on two Prods. I plan on doing it again on a third.

Further, I went .132 on that transfer port. Just drilled it out and it worked fine.

Happy times with this little power house.

The second is to drill out the Transfer Port. Be careful, as it has two tiny flat washers, top and bottom, that need to go back in place when you return it to the gun. They will pop out when you take the TP out. Size does not seem to matter much. The existing port is too narrow. Just use a small bit to open it up. If I remember .016 to .032 were the new sizes. That’s the size of a small drill bit.

Here is an old post I did on the TP modification…has a few pics missing, but the important stuff is still there:

Also, look at these prior posts:

This will give you a good start. Also, I’d look up an exploded Marauder Pistol Parts diagram. You can probable Google that, unless someone here has one to share.

P=pistol
M=rifle
