i agree with the stock looking just kinda blah. hopefully they didnt start staining the stocks themselves cause that would be terrible and im screwed.
i like the look of the stock though as for shape overall, looks clean and leaves room for things to be added, maybe a pellet holder in the webbing between the thunbhole and butt pad? would need to be screwed in from the bottom BUT i think it would lend itself well to having atleast 10 shots on deck in some sort of rubber holder without digging for a tin or a pocket. keeps the pellets more uniform as well.
will fiddle with mine and see how it lends itself to actual hunting applications but good work DMAN.
buff it down with some 000 steel wool and focus on the runs with a single edge razor blade where you can that way you dont sand off the surrounding without a block being used. how the automotive paint industry does it so it oughta be enough for a stock as well
Grain pops real nice, but the shape still leaves something to be desired…
You know as far as the shape… it feels really nice in your hands and shoulders really well… between the Bobcat the cricket (both skeleton and synthetic) and the p12…
my vote goes to the P12.
Now that i got the P12 all tuned and how i want it…. i find myself Torn between shooting it or the Cricket (now that its wearing the skeleton)…
That gets about 70% of it. There seemed to be a build up in the corners.
I ended up using 180 grit but I had trouble trying to not groove it out.
Lots of patient em and elbow greese. I think I got about 6 coats of true oil on it. I might end up doing another 6 or so coats … I have a few spots that ran. So ill sand it down with some 600 grit and see how it goes.
I like the finish, great job :8: and will be doing the same to mine once I get it. What did you use for refinishing, did put a clear coat on, and what did it take to removing the factory finish?
posted all that on the yellow.
he citrustripped the crap out of it and used tru oil kit from brownells with tru oil stain.
he also said he wished he had spent a little more time on prep work but thats ok.
