An update,
The more I shoot this Phoenix, the more I appreciate it. I own’t be sad if it doesn’t sell. I want to stretch it out now. 30 yards is too easy for any PCP, even my .177\4 fpe Crosman 1701P (from a rest). These Brits and their non-FAC guns; they may be on to something with their hunters’ greater reliance on shot placement with non-FAC Daystates and BSAs, and Air Arms, et al. Stalking to get close for s kill shot. Not bad. Neither is the shot count. The Phoenix gives me a solid 70 shots, and a manageable 80 shots, if you adjust for the dropping POI. Once you know it, you know it. That is something to explore with this gun, at some yardage; how many good shots? Maybe I’ll test it at 40 yards. I’ve got two magazines. I think 40 yards would be a decent test for a 11.7 fpe PCP.22. I know for me it will.

Hi Edge,
Man! Was I vague! This is actually my second Phoenix. See here (the first one): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBNYs3ZY4KE and here (the new one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRk7S_7ByzA

So I’m familiar, to say the least (which I did! :suprisedn: ). The new is a warranty-repair replacement from AoA. I just received it on the 23rd of this month.

I was really curious to see if any other member on the forum was familiar with the rifle. I get the impression it is a rare gun here is the USofA. My new one is serial #0033. It was sent as a replacement by AoA after some reassembly issues with trigger group. I had taken the first rifle down to repair an air leak. I went too far with that, and I could not get the trigger assembly to operate correctly after reassembling the rifle. I let that one sit for several months while I dealt with the factory for information, but finally I bit the bullet and asked AoA to reassemble it for me. AoA perhaps could not get the trigger to perform to it’s satisfaction, and tried to send it back to the factory but ran into an issue I’m not provvy to. Imagine my surprise when AoA informed me it would send me a new one, and get the old one repaired later! :suprisedn: :suprisedn: :suprisedn: But I have tended to move on, in trying to purify my PCP interests down to as few guns as possible, so my time wit hthe Phoenix seems to be at an end. I’ve put it up on the Yellow classifieds after only 18 rounds through it.

I’m not convinced “American standards” of power are the end-all-do-all of shooting. Variety is the spice of life. The Brits do quite well in hunting small game with sub-12_fpe airguns. The challenge for them is to deliver a killing shot, which because of the non-FAC power limitthey have to be quite the shooters to get a humane kill. So they require guns of high accuracy. Here, with our powerful PCPs a near-miss is liable to kill a ground hog! :biggrinn: So I’ve come to respect that sort of shooting, and I see it as very challenging. One wag went out with his Phoenix and won an HFT even on it’s first shoot.

anyway, sorry to have been so vague.

Hey Darryl,

I have no experience with the Phoenix, but it appears to be a good quality air rifle. The only issue I see with it is that by American standards it is pretty weak, shooting at a maximum of 700 FPS. That number was probably arrived at with a RWS Hobby pellet, if not an alloy pellet. Most sproingers put out more power than that.

Airguns of Arizona sells it for just under $1200. If you contact them, I am certain they will give you an honest personal opinion concerning the quality of the air rifle.
