Q:

PCP storage pressure question

In your opinion what pressure would be better to store away a pcp ? Very high like 2500 psi of low pressure like 1200 psi ?

I’m just wondering if they could have a tendency to leak if stored too long at a high pressure.

Really don’t think dust if going to be a problem if stored at 1200PSi (or 100PSI for that matter)….dust in the air (at 14.7 PSI) isn’t going to defeat even 20 PSI of sealing force.

But the valve seals I’ve seen are of a nice hard black Delrin material, not likely to take a set even at 3K storage…so go ahead and store it full if that’s your urge.

I’ll usually store mine at about 1800PSi…enough air for a few good shots if I need to get into action right away, otherwise I just fill (usually to 2600 psi) before I shoot.

If my facts are correct 3000psi is the right place to store it. The high pressure keeps everything sealed. Low pressure lets things move more, and dust and the like can get into parts.

😀

I was concerned that the low pressure may save the life of the seals but allow dust in but then at the same time concerned that the high pressure may bulge out the seals and shorten the life.
So from what I understand 2500 psi would be just fine.

Same opinion here as the other guys, just thought you might be intrested in why it’s like that.

😀

Roger that !
