Pellet choices
Hi guys, Im looking for a new pellet to start shooting. I have been using bisley magnums Kodiaks) in my 12″ talon shooting them at about 800 fps and find them a bit heavy for long range. I have also been getting just over 1″ groups at 55 yards.
So I am asking what pellets would be suitable for longer ranges. Im installing a 18″ BSA barrel which should put the kodiaks at about 900 fps. A pellet of 16 grains seems good.
I live in the UK and cant really get hold of the infamous JSB’s but am I right in saying that the JSB’s are the same as AA field pellets?
Also how do the crossman premiers group in you rifles?
I know that barrels like diffrent pellets and you would suggest buying a selection but for me 500 pellets usually costs over £10
So what do you think guys?

Yeah I will stick with the kodiaks for the moment and see how they group with the new barrel and speed asi have a few left. I’m planning on going some more 50-55 yard groups today and will try and post a video of taking clay pidgeons at approx 70 And maybe 100 yards

don’t rule out the crossman pellets they work very well in my condor.I bought the premiers and they are very accurate and i bought some of the crossman hollow points to try because they are allot cheaper, and they shoot very well too. i use the crossman h.p, s alot now.
Yeah don’t rule the Kods out because they might group well at higher speeds in the new barrel. Just try every pellet you can and see what shoots best.

If your looking for good results past 50 yards, I’d suggest sticking with the 21.1 Gr. Kods @ 900-950. I regularly take squirrels at 50-100 yards using them.
Just did a test with my 12″ barrel, first shot was a kodiak going 818.4 fps and the second shot was a 16 grain logun penetrator going 875.6 fps.
Looks like with my setup, a 16 grain pellet should be going around 950-1000 fps

The 18gr. JSB’s would be the primo choice for what your shooting now… I took my Condor from a 12″ barrel to the 18″ barrel just recently and my rifle shoots these plenty fast dude…
My Condor with the 18″ barrel shoots the 18gr. JSB’s right at a smooth 1000 fps… That in mind should have the Kodiacs easy around 900-930

Edit* Come to think of it, aren’t those AA pellets arounfd the 14 grain mark in .22? If so, they can’t be JSBs as they don’t do that weight in .22
JSB makes a 14.3g pellet.

Yep those are the pellets.
Working with chairgun, The AA’s have only 1.5″ less drop at 100 yards and carry 33 fpe at the muzzle instead of the 40 fpe that the magnums (Kodiaks) carry.
If I still find that the magnums (Kodiaks) dont tighten up with the new scope and barrel then it looks like some AA field will be coming my way

If not then I might change to the AA field and see how well they group.

Well on the chairgun pellet database they show a weight of 15.9gr and a BC that is identical to the JSB’s

Yes the AA pellets are the same as JSBs. They shoot exactly the same in my rifles.
The AA Field and AA Hunter have always been good to me. Maybe they are rebranded JSBs 😕
