pellet clipping?
Got my new shroud today and tested it. Worked very well, except it seems that the POI have moved from previous (without shroud). I’m wondering if this is normal or is the pellet clipping. I will have to do some testing to make sure.
Is there a way I can check for this? I took the shroud apart and it looked undamaged…
The test I’m going to do is to first see if I can get a good grouping with 5 shots. Then I will rotate the shroud 90 degrees and get another grouping. I will do this 4 times and see what conclusion I can draw from this. If I can get the same POI I guess it doesn’t matter if the shroud does in fact affect it??

I don’t think so. On my .257 the barrel is 32″ long and when I pull the shroud I have a frame end cap with o rings that I put on to support the barrel at the end of the frame.
I have to make a new one for my .25 because I changed to a TJ barrel and the OD is smaller.
I don’t have one for the new .308 yet but I run a end cap with our rings that fit the barrel tight.
On my old .308 with the LW barrel if I didn’t run the end cap or shroud it would shoot 1″ to the right at 50 yds. Barrel wasn’t perfectly straight and I dimpled the barrel for the bushings so I didn’t want to turn the barrel until it shot straight. Easier to just support the barrel at the end of the frame
Just to clarify when i say poi change i do not mean it shifts around and does not hold a zero. If you sight in and you are dead on at 30 yds and then add a moderator and youre gun now shoots 2″ right with the same accuracy and it retains that aim point then that would be normal. If the guns poi constantly shifts with out changing anything then yes something is wrong. Just as Dyotat states quality plays a big part in how much effect you see adding the moderator. Dyotat when you build a shroud for one of youre guns do you ever see a change of poi? Or can you shoot 10 shots with the shroud in place then take it off and shoot 10 more into the same poi? From reading youre posts i know you are top notch when it comes to building things and making them tight and right 
So i would not be surprised if you could make a shroud or moderator that had very little impact on the gun when installed.
Depends on the quality of the shroud. I have no issues with shrouds on any of my guns but I also spend 10-15 hours building them. Checking every time I put a piece in the Chuck that there is no more than .0005″ run out. My shrouds are 5 pieces that all screw together. On my .257 the hole is .272″ which is only .015″ clearance with no issues.

POI is very common with moderators or even silencers used on powder burners. It depends on the particular gun or airgun how much it is affected or in what direction. If you can put the moderator on and get the same accuracy that it has with it off then it is not clipping. If you put the moderator on and the accuracy goes to hell and you see signs of pellets going in the target at an angle instead of straight in you can bet you have clipping issues. But just having poi change and retaining accuracy is the norm.
Can you all do an experiment for me? A really quick experiment….
I just want to see if there’s any POI shift with a moderator on. It doesn’t matter where you got the moderator from, and if you don’t mind please do state which moderator you have and how much shift and what direction. If it’s normal for POI shift then I can stop worry about it and just adjust the scope accordingly…

ALL IS GOOD! All I had to do is rotate the moderator (by rotating the end cap adapter). I rotate 1/8 turn until I get no POI changes from without moderator. So if you guys have pellet clipping issue / POI shifts try rotating your moderator!
