Pellet Comparison?
I’m trying to decide if in the future I should get a longer barrel in .22 or .25.
I’ve never seen the pellets side by side and I can’t really imagine how much bigger a .25 pellet is. If anybody has a mix of the two calibers I would appreciate them taking a picture, especially of the .22 and .25 kodiaks and the .25 eun jins.

My .25 shoots low to mid 900’s with modded talon valve. no problem. (maxed out high 800s before boring the valve stem).
Bore out your talon valve stem. I have not done this yet, but I have heard you can gain about 70 fps.
Yeah, I see what your saying. But that just means less power, and I atleast want to be shooting .25 kodiaks in the mid to upper 900’s and without buying a condor tank along with it. Is there another way to gain that kind of power?
I would say get a 20″ barrel and an 8″ shroud. Like Adam says, you could poke your targets eye out with a shrouded 24″ barrel. 😀
As far as accuracy vs raw power, which one do you guys think is more valuable? I always aim for the head, so currently accuracy is something important for me to have. But with .25 do you guys just aim for body shots? I doubt it is accurate enough to hit the head every time, or is it?
I am still interested in seeing the size difference between a .22 and .25 kodiak.
Accuracy with my .25 barrel from TalonTunes is at least equal to if not slightly better than my 24″ .22 bbl which is gathering dust at the moment.
With the .25 I’ve had 5 shot groups of .5-.75 inch at 50yd and 1.5-2″ at 100yd so headshots on bunnies would be no problem. Impact energy is tremendous with the .25 vs the .22
If compactness isn’t a big deal i’d go for a .25 in a 24″ barrel. You should be able to get close to 900 with Kodiaks with your talon. I’m only guessing here though.
So you’re saying that I can just upgrade to .25 by only getting a barrel and a shroud? Surely the little SS isn’t capable of shooting .25 cal pellets very fast? What kind of velocities are we talking on full power with kodiaks and eunjins? And what length barrel would work best? A 24 inch barrel and a 12 inch shroud?

Your maximum velocity will probably be closer to my low than anythign else. So, you won’t have to worry as much about pass through as I said. My high power is over 1000fps, so it’s really moving out. But, you won’t have to deal with that. So, you should be good.
Dnc got a .25 conversion for his SS and he loved it. Gave a little extra power and still pinpoint accurate. So yeah, you should still think about getting it, you won’t have to deal with the problems I was talking about.

The eun jins are so solid that they don’t deform at all. At full power from my condor they will rip through 2x4s without deforming much. They will go straight through just about anything you shoot.
Now, if you get hollow points, they will deform, and if they don’t stop, they will rip a chunk out anyway. That might be what you want to look at for hunting at maximum power. Of course, anything you shoot, if it’s through the head, won’t go anywhere, so if all you want is headshots you shouldn’t have a problem.
As far as accuracy, I shoot pencils in half at 20 yards all the time. I’ve gotten 50+ yard groups of .5 inch. Accuracy shouldn’t be a problem for you. What ranges are you going to be hunting at. If you are capable of it, you can probably do headshots under 50 yards every time, and you’ll have plenty of extra power. If you are doing eun jins, make sure you know what’s behind it, because it will almost definately go through.
Also, what do you have? Condor or talon?
Thanks guys. I will be hunting with this but I want the pellet to be traveling fast for the flattest trajectory possible. It’s surprising to hear that once a squirrel has a .25 eun jin passed through them the still get away lama? I will also be using the gun for hunting rabbits, what I originally got the gun for. Surely the pellet will stop inside a rabbit and full power?

In my opinion, the .25 upgrade is definately worth the money. If you hunt, that little bit seems to make a huge difference. If I shoot a squirrel with my .25 condor with an eun jin, it falls. With the eun jins and squirrels I do try and keep the power down to about 800 fps, up in the 900s and 1000s fps range it will go through so fast the squirrel won’t even know it was hit. At about 800 they drop where they stand. Higher velocities work well for raccoons and such.

My Condor from Talon Tunes is using a power mod talon tank. a .25 cal. 21″ barrel. According to the information I got from Tony, It is shooting .25 Kodiak’s from 860 to 812 FPS in a 12 shot string. 5 shot groups at 30 yds are about dime size. And it is O-so quiet! I downed 2 pidgens off a tower yesterday at 80 yds 😈 I wish I could train my cat to retrieve!
