Pellet groupings
Just for fun this weekend, I tried comparing different pellets using my Vulcan .25.
Five shots of six different pellet types were taken at 40 yards using a tripod rest.
Pellets were not evaluated for weight, size, or damage, they were straight out of the tin.
I’m not very steady and five shots are not really enough for conclusive results. I plan on trying this again using a bench rest and chrony.
Five additional shots were taken at 60 yards using the kings, surprisingly this group was tighter than the 40 yard grouping of kings!
TARAN software (free) was then used to perform target analysis calculations. http://taran.ptosis.ch/taran.html
TARAN showed the extreme spread (shots furthest apart) and calculated the probability of a shot hitting within a 1/2 inch radius (1 inch circle).
Measured results were consistent with my prior observations. Kings have been my favorite, but Barracudas may be replacing these!
Grains Pellet Extreme spread (in.) 1″D hit probability
31.02 barracuda 0.86 68%
25.39 king exact 0.97 60%
25.39 king exact 1.25 57%
31.02 kodiac 1.47 41%
37.00 rat slugs 1.62 38%
35.80 eunjin 1.82 30%
31.00 rat slugs 2.14 20%
26.00 predator will not fit Vulcan magazine
45.00 rat slugs will not fit Vulcan magazine

I would like to make a dummy magazine for single feed but I would probably not use a single shot mode.
These are the ones I use
