PELLET LUBE
HEY GUYS;
I know some people lube pellets with white lightning or krytech.
Has anybody ever tried Hornadys One Shot case lube ❓

i’ve tried different lubes…the latest was spray on furniture wax…
i have done no “real” tests to determine if there is any real benefit to lubing.
i think the true, ‘best thing’, is washing and ridding the pellets of the lead swarf and residue.
i agree with the poster who said that JSB’s are probably so accurate because they are clean right from the factory. i also find K&N Barracuda Match the same.
Thanks walkonking.
I’ve got some break free I will give her a spin
LOL………i’ve used just about every LUBE in my garage just for the hell of it including hornady case lube. My problem is that i don’t use lube long enough to notice any difference. But the one that i do tend to stick with and have for years is SAILKOTE. My buddy bought me a can about 6 years ago and i’ve been buying it every since. I’ve also used it on my cast bullets. I also use food grade silicon with my happiness. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!
I use Break Free with good success.
When I get a chronograph I
Will do more testing with
One-shot lube
I’ve been using FP-10 for years. Love the stuff!
For the .257 bullet, I am testing silicone RC shock oil in 10 weight. As Roach Creek suggested. So far-so Good! 😀
KnifeMaker
seemed to help with my groups as well,3 shot groups 2900 psi, rested on a hornady delta rest
monsters and crow magnums were my test platform.
30 yrds- 1/2” down to 3/8” on groups
folks I think we have a winner! :thumb:
I used the Hornady dry lube in the black can “not the case lube” with good results today.
Lightly sprayed the bottom of an empty tin and rolled 30 or so JSB’s around in it at a time and let em dry for a few minutes.
It does dry to the touch and doesn’t stink like some oils.
I’ve went back and forth on the lube thing for a long time and have tried a few different things, usually go back to non lubed and just clean more often.
Only shot 100 or so testing the dry lube but so far I’m liking it, I think it helped accuracy, for me some of the other lubes seemed to degrade it slightly ?
one shot is almost a dry lube so to speak
I use it to reload my .460 xvr
testing it on some crow magnums, since they have the aerodynamics
of a brick I figured it couldn’t hurt!
I lube pellets with white lightning or krytech.. They are the same.. Never used case lube since it is thick and messy.. Always gently washed them in a baggie with dish soap and dryed..
Sid,
I have Lubed pellets using 5-10 drops of FP-10 dropped on a white foam pellet tin liner. It doesn’t take much to roll them around to pick up a little then put them in their own tin where they will finish distributing the lube.
Others will probably have better advice but so far I only lubbed pellets I thought were dirty and those usually have slivers of lead hanging on then.
I think part of the reason JSBs are so accurate is they are usually clean and lightly Lubed.
I havent bought any dirty ones for a long time. When I did, I soaked them in dish soap and water, dryed them with a hair dryer, and Lubed them lightly. They would shoot better cleaned.
Maybe the good shooters clean all their ammo and if that is the case I may do more than roll sort mine.
That’s a really good question and I too will be watching for some new tips from the more experienced.
