pellet seating depth
Has anybody ever experimented with various pellet seating depths to see if it has an effect on accuracy? Coming from a reloading background I would often play with bullet seating depth to get the most accurate load. I began to wonder if it would work on pellets. I am hoping to find a way to get better longer range groups from my .22 Polymags. They shoot great litle 1/4 inch groups at 20 yards and then open up to an inch or more at 40 yards. I love the way the Polymags perform on game, but my cheap Crosman pointed field pellets will shoot groups half their size at 40 yards.

Everything I’ve read so far as C.M.’s are concerned is they are good for close up work and no good for long range. I’d imagine that close up (ten yards or less) and at 900+Fps they’d be devastating.
