pending california law
some of you may be aware, and some of you may not care, but california state legislature has approved SB962 and it’s sitting on the governors desk awaiting his signature or veto.
if passed, californians will be able to purchase only 50 rounds of handgun ammo PER MONTH, not be allowed to purchase via internet or mail.
this is an alrarming development…
it will get worse…it WILL spill over into ALL of the shooting communities; archery, airguns and hunting/competetive rifles and arms.
we in california can expect little, to no, help or assistance from the federal govt and probably little, to no, help from the NRA and such organizations (i am a life member of the NRA) in defeating this legislation. if passed, this will open pandora box to eventuyally strangling the shooting sports. it WILL and IS underway if WE let it happen!
EVERYONE out there needs to write, fax, call or email gov schwarzenegger and urge him to veto 962.
this country is nearing “critical mass”…

what is troubling about this law, and many, many other laws like it, it has good intent in mind but they invariably CREATE more pandamonium and more PROBLEMS than they solve.
as an example: i witnessed a sheriff testify on TV, nearly in tears, that if the AWB was allowed to ‘sunset’, that “cops blood will flow freely in the streets”. has it happened? no…it has not. the death rate of LEO’s is NOT been affected by the ‘sunseting’ nor has there been a huge increase in crime that so many ignorant, self-righteous, corrupt legislators so loudly proclaimed would occur.
the AWB was not proven effective OR ineffective, yet we were persecuted under it…anoither example of ignorance and lack of understanding by legislators.
I hate all these daft laws. There blatantly a attack on your right to own guns. However as they know they will never get away with a direct attack they do these snide little thing until before you know it your rights have gone.
I just found out about another law they just manage to pass in the UK with out telling any one about it. Its now illegal to have a car that is any louder than standard. I am in to motorsport and this law has effectively outlawed rallying in the UK as all rally cars have to be road legal and have to travel on public roads between stages.

Er, actually I don’t think he ‘forgot to mention’ it, it’s not there to mention….. Never was AFAIK. There was a clause that said private individuals couldn’t *give* more than 50 rounds a month to someone, but even that part seems gone now.
At a practical level, there’s no way to inforce such a limit. The records of sales are *kept at the seller’s place of business* (not reported) for five years.
Mail order handgun ammo is out after 2011 (have to buy face to face, sign and give a thumb print).
It’s not good at all, but not as bad as some seem to think. And still some guys don’t support the NRA…….

If the governor can’t be convinced to veto it, it become law automatically. Time to call……916-445-2841 or fax at 916-558-3160. This stuff doesn’t get better over time.

It will lead to thugs trying to reload their own ammo… thus creating duds and/or self-destructive rounds. This law is ok. 😉 😛
Looked into this a little further. Seems the intent is to get ammo out of criminal hands, and we all know criminals follow the law.

Sounds like all you gun lovers in that state need to pack up and move back into America, I know they would never pull that shit here in TX.

I can’t believe that they’re actually thinking of doing this. I live around 5 miles from the NRA in Fairfax and I just hope you guys get this vetoed.

Not a win, but a lot better than it would have been without resistance. Just imagine how much better we could do if more gun owners took part, rather than let other folks defend their rights?
It starts with joining the NRA, getting educated and invloved…..talking about it won’t get it done.
