Q:

Perfect FPS for Cricket 15.9gr .22?

I have the Cricket .22 standard and just ordered a new chrony. (they don’t like 50bmg holes, there wasn’t much left)
What fps is best for accuracy with the jsb exact 15.9?
I have no idea what FPS it is at now but 1/2in 10 shot groups are easy at 50 yards.
Thanks to Hoot and the yellow, I know how to disassemble and adjust the reg so that should be fairly easy.
What distance from the muzzle should I place the chrony? With magnum pb I placed at 15ft, but that seems overly far for ag.

Thanks

Amen to that !

I think its very barrel/gun specific until you get the velocity so high you start blowing out/distorting the skirts. That is where I think there is a difference on caliber/pellet weight-Type/skirt thickness. I did a bunch of testing with my Condor a few years ago and thought I had a good feel for .22 pellets spiraling and velocity since it is capable of pretty high velocities. When I put the .25 barrel in it the results went right out the window and the .25 pellets handled quite a bit more velocity and stayed stable at long range compared to the .22. Basically, you have to test it in your own gun and find the optimum.

I´ve tested every imaginable speed for those 18gr. in my EdGun (not a Cricket but that´s not the point) and although everyone says to keep it at 880-890 fps in my gun that seems to be too slow. It´s most accurate and consistent at 910-920 fps. Go figure … Maybe the air is thicker or the smog affects the pellet somehow on the US side of the Atlantic ??!!

…and for 18grain did you try best speed?

Thay reacon 28ftp is the money for accuracy in all pcp rifles.

Iv tested this and found it to be very true,in most of my rifles.
just detuned my talondor from 46ftp back to 27ftp

I shoot 8mm yellow stickers at 80 yards just to keep ME at the top of my game and at 46ftp i couldent get close to the 8mm more like 20mm
but back at 27ftp im hitting the 8mm sticker again at 80 yards.
so for me less is more.

I use a F1 chroni i keep 12″ from muzzel end to were the first laser starts.

hope this helps

Thanks meech, 880-900 is what everyone reccomends and about a foot seemed right for the distance because you don’t have any powder to worry you.

Hey,

I’m getting good results with 15.9s shooting at 895 fps.

I test for speed a few inches from the first sensor. I’m using a prochrono digital.
