Perp brings a car to a Gun Fight… and loses…

Cops Chase, Shoot Fugitive in Hastings

At least three officers shot a fugitive who led the U.S. Marshals and other law enforcement departments on a chase through Hastings and rammed squad cars.

Around 8 p.m., law enforcement received a tip that a man wanted by the Department of Corrections was driving a stolen vehicle. He was armed and making threats against law enforcement.
Officers chased the stolen vehicle. They tried to use a Pursuit Intervention Technique, or PIT maneuver, to stop the vehicle. But the driver managed to ram more than one squad car.

Officials said the fugitive drove another half mile and then officers successfully completed a PIT maneuver and opened fire.
Officials said three officers from different agencies–including the Department of Corrections, the Hastings Police Department and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office–shot the fugitive.

The man was taken to Regions Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
The incident closed Highway 61 and 3rd Street.
