Picked up a really old Talon (updated with Pichers!!)

I’ve got a buddy that’s selling off all of his PCP stuff. He’s been collecting for a while. I bought his Talon. He says it was purchased when they first came out.

It’s a Talon in .22. 24″ barrel. The tank is longer than the my more modern talon. The threaded portion and the top hat are longer as well. Also the safety works in reverse of the current safety.

When I tried to fill, I had to dump all the air to get the tank off of the adapter. He forgot to bring the adapter but will send it. I’ll take some pics but I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the early designs and is there anything I should look for?

I bought this rifle to compete in HFT with it. The previous owner says that adjusting down to 20 fpe will be no problem in .22.

Does anyone know if I could change out this tophat for something more modern?

That is a cheap Chinese knock off, I saw 4 of them on EBAY this week for $65.00.

The bottom two pics are the bottle off of the Stubby and the older rifle. Seems to work well, but I haven’t chronyed it yet. When I tried to air up the tank it would fill but the adapter was too shallow and would dump all the air through the bleed on the gauge. He’s mailing me the correct fill adapter.

Is there anything I should be aware of concerning these older rifles?
