I also painted the forestock and had it mounted with the light/grip, but it put the light/grip too far forward, so I did away with the forestock and it works quite well this way. Ultimately, I am going to get a lighter scope. This one is a bit bulky for the way I envisioned this carbine to be. The die is a temporary breech knob…I am going to put a buffalo bone skull, or a skull with an army helmet on its head…The color is krylon olive drab 8 coats.

Did not crony since first time, but put the PW up two more to five. Seems to be very accurate. First group was a 10 shot group indoors @ around 20 yards. All groups were with 21gr Kodiaks
Second group was @ 30 yards outside (two 7 shot groups). The first 7 shot group was after a 2900 psi fill. The second group (most accurate of the two) was after 10 shots right in the “meat” of the curve. I achieved a 3/8″ group and I know I can do better, so this 18″ carbine has all the makings of an MOA shooter!

80, This bbl. Likes JSB 15.9’s, Preds’ and Kodiaks. I never got the chance to try out the 18 gr JSB’s in it. You just have to shoot the pellet you are changing to a few rounds before it will settle down.
Seems like every time you change pellets, a bbl. will be inaccurate for the first fiew shots.
With a Talon valve, she likes the crossman boxed as well. 😉

Sorry, Mike, I should have taken pics of it before I put it back together. Although simply describing it as “chrome like” should get the point across. I think you said it liked the Kodiaks best…I will test out some other pellets soon. With that forgrip this really makes on hell of an offhand shooter! I like, I like 😎

I might like something like that on my 24″ condor .25 I like the 18″ looking like an SS with the barrel flush with the end cap.

80 you have one nice looking rig there very nice I can tell you took some time to get it all decked out where did you get the front grip that looks like it would be nice to hold!

Not too sure, but I would prefer something with a minimum of 12x preferably 16x…40mm bell…side focus a plus, but not a make or brake. I’ve been wanting to buy the swfa ss fixed 10x with side focus….According to the many reviews I’ve read it is the most bang for your buck. Ranks up with the four figure scopes. I think it is around 420.00.
I wanted something that would be good for a powder burner as well so I can give it to my wife when she hits the range with her girlfriends to use on her AR 10. The SWFA might be best for both of us to share. If it proves to be a heavy scope (I will have to look at the details) than perhaps I will have to consider something else for my condor. That Redfield looks very light…and I suppose I am attracted to their past rep…but I doubt the new one will be of the same quality.
I am always looking for good deals on the yellow for optics. I procrastinated once and lost out on two SWFA that were basically for the price of one! I almost hit the “I’ll take it”. I got up to discuss it with the wife, and when I sat down somebody snatched them up.
How do you find the clarity of that scope? I was looking at that model some time ago, but seems every BSA scope I’ve looked through has been a bit dark at the higher magnifications…. 16x and up.
Never had a problem with the clarity on 16x, however, I have only shot it in morning/daylight hours. Never had a chance to shoot it in lowlight situations yet. Next chance I get I will check it out. All lin all, I love the sidewheel focus and range estimations, nice turrets as well, I don’t like those “batman” covers…I will remove them as soon as I find an allen key small enough to fit. I don’t even know if one exists…the hole is so small you can hardly see it. I am not keeping that scope on that set up. I want to find a smaller/lighter one…I’ve been looking at those new Redfields…anyone have any feedback on them yet???
Nice…… How much smaller and lighter are you looking for? Just curious…. No experience with the Redfields… but the Bushnell Trophy 4-12 is nice and clear… and believe it or not, for the money, the Banner 4-12 is nice as well…. the 6-18 is, but is considerably larger.

Haven’t even had time to mess with it. I will put in some more trigger time with all those pellets you mentioned. The only ones I don’t have is the preds. I will get some soon. I can see a pigmy cf tank with regulator in the not too distant future. And with my valve and hammer she better like the heavier pellets cause she’ll push those light ones way too fast as she sits:wink:
