Pictures of my Wood Shop
I posted a new Condor hammer I made with my South Bend lathe on Mod’s and Machinist, here is my wood shop I have another section not pictured I might use to move my Metal Lathe and hopefully a mill in the future! Anyway this is an old South Bend Lathe Model A 9″ swing I rebuilt myself and it is now up and running other than a few minor things I plan on doing to it, It is not a big lathe but longer than some, they used this particular lathe for gunsmithing the extra length you could work on gun barrels. I still plan to paint it maybe this winter but for now I wanted to machine a few small jobs I have been putting off and make sure everyting is going to be ok on it, so far runs like a top made in 1940 in that era close! I also took pictures of my Wood shop it is now where I make my living mostly Re-Faceing kitchen cabinets and making new hardwood doors and drawers for the fronts, I do anything realated to wood projects Trim work baseboard anything interior in a house I do, I make all my own doors and drawers and trim and baseboard with my shaper and table saw, I really enjoy it also get into my wood lathe work from time to time, just hard to find time for all of it, supposed to be retired but that ain’t going to happen! and I like what I do so that helps, Lost my job as a machinist of 40 years4 years ago, so this is what I do now and no boss to tell me what I did wrong or how I should have done it, makes for a really good day even the bad days I have to think back although I liked my job as a machinist somehting always new coming at you, we were also the maintance dept so fixed allot of printing presses and Bindery machinery always something to do. Anyway enough about me here is my latest fixer upper Metal lathe, paint will make it more pretty later thanks for looking Eddie! Oh yea I built the bench the lathe is on quite a variety of wood Red Oak for the top and some of the trim, Cherry trim around the table top and drawer fronts, Walnut knobs I made Cherry drawer fronts , yellow pine wraps around the table and Spruce table legs, oh yea and maple on the front part where the drawer openings are 😯

I can here the wheels turning Joe! got a kick out of that one I am always looking for equipment to do stocks, like I said I can do them but as of now it takes allot of work to get them in a finished mode inlaying is one of the big things, I do have access to a mill at a freinds place actually a couple places, I found a place that has blank stocks that are really good on prices, going to order a Blue lamiate for the Edgun! going to be a winter project if I have no other jobs going on then, so we will see! and your offers do sound good 😆 😆 😆 take a look at these blanks they sell, prices are great!! go on the left side of screen blue banner go down to uninlet stocks and then to wood blanks

Well Eddie……………….I sure like the looks of that accuracy international tactical stock..did you see the one that some guy did on the yellow forum for his marauder??? Man, it came out awesome.
I want something similar for my .457 JH. HMMMM lets see, 80 grit lends Eddie his JH for awhile so he can punch big holes in things, providing Eddie has enough air on hand, and Eddie makes a nice tactical (unfinished) stock for 80’s JH for a nominal fee 😆

Well Joe if you have any wood project you need done let me know, I don’t know how much longer I am going to keep working on kitchens and interior wood in houses I would love to get into making stocks but need at least a good mill, Cnc rounter would be good but not cheap, I keep watching for something that I could use in the shop for making stocks! I can do some of the work but in order to inlay a stock and do what you have to do to them it takes more than people realize, I can and am going to work on a stock for my Edgun but without the tools needed it will be a winter project for me and if I am going to do this for other people I need to get into something that will work, and I have read up and watched a couple guys get into this field and it is not an easy thing just to start doing without the help of an experienced person to help you. Maybe someday 😆

Really Daddy how do you like it? I was kind of talked into into buying a South Bend lathe from some older guys on a forum that I go on, I was all set to get a Grizzly mid range lathe but they said to get a South Bend lathe, So far I think I did ok speed is one thing I new was going to be a bit on the slow side, but I bought this with intensions of not doing anything fast 😆 So I guess I am going to be ok I will have to email you and tell you the story behind this one, I did ok on price but things were bad on this and they were never mentioned to me at all, but when you buy sight unseen you always take that chance! And I have never seen one up for sale that there wasn’t somthing wrong with it. Anyway I will pm you my email address with the details on my lathe, let me know how you like yours good and bad thanks Eddie

R60 I have thought about that need more tools 😯 cnc router would be the tool for that!
And Crow guns are in the house in my gun cabinet! Although I didn’t get a picture of it but above the walk in door there hangs a 10/22 laminated stock Stainless steel barrel with a full clip just in case!~ I have used it on the occasional crackel and ground hog and ground squirel and anything else that might pose a problem 😯
