Pictures of Valve building

Just some pictures of building a valve.
Takes about 4 hours to build one from scratch.

real nice work , glad you finished and add the picture . make a good visual for lots of gun owners .

More pictures — I am surprised people are interested??

The valve seat is threaded & super glued to a 4-40 hardened screw.
The 4-40 screw is threaded into a blind hole in the stem.
Oriface size is .173 inch, so it opens easily with a standard talon spring & hammer.
The spring requires about 8 pounds to push the valve open by hand.
Stem diameter is .312 inch, hole in stem is about .234 inch
Produces about 1050 FPS with an 18 inch .22 cal barrel using 21 grain Kodiaks.
Produces about 70 FPE with 35 grain Eun Jin’s (950 FPS) in a 20 inch, .25 cal barrel.
Same style valve with a .234 inch oriface produces 180 FPE with a 17 inch, 9mm barrel, shooting 158 grain bullets.

The last one is of the valve seat in the open condition

Crying or not ??

The die holder is home built and has a #2 taper to fit my tail stock.

Mark

Where did you get the dies? Oh, and the price? Am I gonna cry when you post the price?

Marc:
Yah that stem is rough. I ran outta battery in my camera , and didnt get a “completed” picture of the stem and overall valve sorry.
After I cut the air ports, I polish with abrasive cloth.
I got tired of manual threading and bought threading dies — very quick that way.

Mark

Is the stem as rough as it looks. I know camera’s tend to make things way rougher than they are. Your valves are a lot quicker don than mine using the threadingplate!. Nice work man!

Regards,

Marc
