pigeons in a silo
What power (low) pellet gun can i use that will kill pigeons and not put holes in a silo roof? We have hundreds of pigeons that land on the silo roof and sneak into our feed. The silo is about 100 feet high with a heavy tin roof. The shots would hit at an angle so something low powered should bounce off I think. I know soomeone here has done this! lol

i would suggest a light pellet hollowpoint or flathead….but a domed might be fine too
i have shot pc cases with alot of different pellets including 80 fpe eujins .22, and must have a real hard time penetrating, but will make nice dents, and if hit repeatatly will make a hole at some point….now i dont know silo roofs but maybe that will give you an idea
what does penetrate metal is those steel ultra light pellets, they dont deform and cut right through
i would suggest using 16 grain JSB, and keep the power down…..a aa410 can be adjusted way down….1377 or 1322 will do nice too(with the tiny amount if air it uses its easy to silence too if legal in your country/region) an SS or talon tuned for low power would be very good too
ohh and pellet…..go for the softest pellet you can find…jsbs are pretty soft…you can test their softness with a nail
what guns do you have slayer, crow mags don’t pass thru much, center body hit , and your good.
i don’t think a lighter pellet would penetrate a heavy tin roof any way at 30 + yards especially at an angle. A Kodiak at 1000 fps might thou . 😯
I 2nd the 1377.
There are a couple of options.
You could put a oring or rubber washer behind your tophat and turn your gun down to get 450-500 fps on your talon.
Or you could get yourself a Crosman 1377 and use a few pumps to get the job done.
I would suggest a Benji. pump and wadcutters. That way you can adjust the power and the wadcutters shouldn’t over penetrate.
red ryder? I imagine your hands would get tired of the 20 shots it would take it kill one pigeon but they deserve worse 😈
