Q:

Please help me make an informed decision

Guys I posted earlier in the Talon forum that I was about to drop the coin for a .22 Talon SS.
I like the size and quietness of the gun. However as I look into the mods that I want to do and the fact that in the future I will want to go to longer distance and a higher caliber it strikes me that all the available mods are geared toward the Condor and that there’s very little for the Talon.

Am I right in thinking that it’ll be easier and possibly cheaper to dial a Condor SS down using TTQCTH etc than it will be to dial a Talon SS up?

Out of the box what would I need to do to get a Condor SS to be as quiet as Talon SS?

If I fit a 12″ barrel to a Condor SS will I have the same foot print and noise level as the Talon SS?

I’d like to stick with .22. Is this a good base?

Sorry for the questions but I’ve got twenty four hours to make a decision, its late here and I’m going round in circles :banghead:

COngrats dude. Its always easier to restrict something down than to wring out what potentially is not there. I have gotten my condor down to the low 30 fpe range and its is quiet. Hammer strike is all you hear and not much of it. With the TTQC top hat you can make changes in less than a minute from mild target shooting power to blistering power. You will not be disappointed.

Onebaddj, I spent some time going back through your old posts and found a ton of very useful info.
Many thanks for taking the time to document your findings :thumb:

Cally88 that’s just the sort of thing that I was after :thumb:

In my reading JSB .22 25.4gr comes up a lot. However when I look up that up I get a bewildering number of different named JSBs
Does any one know the exact name, as written on the tin, for this pellet?

When i talked with tony he said that the large insert will reduce the wide open by ~100 fps and the small will reduce wide open by about ~200 fps.

With that he also told me that he didn’t recommend shooting .22 wide open due to tank dump.

My 24″ condor responded just like he said 🙂 and with his shroud mine is ultra quiet, just hammer clink.

Thanks, I hope it’ll be the start of a beautiful relationship :biggrinn:

It sounds to me as if you have the exact set up that I’m looking for.
What have you done to get the gun as you wanted it?
I’m also keen to hear about the effects of the various inserts in affecting performance.

Thanks for the insight, its very much appreciated.

Will fitting a 12″ barrel to the Condor SS allow me to reduce the overall length to the same as the Talon SS?

Your barrel choices for a Condor are 18 and 24″.
I think you’d have an additional 6″ void that you’d need to fill. The LDC guts are only 6″ long.

After a restless night I woke up and ordered a .22 Condor SS

Thanks for the insight, its very much appreciated.

Go with the Condor SS and get one of Tony at Talon Tunes adjustable Top hats and you will be able to lower the velocity so the gun will be quiet and then easily be able to change to much greater power
