Q:

Please help!

Greetings Earthlings!

1st post here.
I’ll start by thanking all that share their wisdom here.

Just bought a TSS C02 22cal because I’ve been told that is the quietest “stock” option to start with. Quiet (legal quiet) is what I MUST (neighbors) have.

That being said, I was hoping for some clarification please.

Ive watched the You Tube vid on silencing an SS w washers and springs…………is this the “Shroud” everyone writes of, or is it an external attachment. Is it designed to dampen the hard metal slam I hear or is it for air dampen?.. I would prefer to stay within the physical boundries of “stock” and not have to purchase longer barrels and external attachments

Any help on the above would greatly be appreciated.

To sum up my pursuit, can someone explain all (legal) mods I need to do to obtain whisper shooting?

Thanks in advance for all feedback.

Also, I love this site!! 😀

quote Rhoderman:

Your TSS won’t be quiet, but if you take the end cap off the frame and fire it once, you will know how much louder it could be.
You need to put some junk in the tube and it will be a lot more neighbor friendly. The TSS has about

quote :

6″ of “useable space” ahead of the barrel

. That’s a lot to work with for starters…

Awesome, this is what I was looking for.

I’m waiting on my TTunes shroud as well.

I assure the wife daily that the saliva stains aren’t from surfing porn at
work but rather from waiting, anticipating its arrival like a caged rat
staring a the food dispenser knowing that the pellet is soon to drop.
(Soon… Get ready for it… Just about here… Almost… :17 )

Although in county, I too am trying to not PO the neighbors on report.
One neighbor is a cop and has been asking me (for weeks) to address
his ‘squirrel problem’ – I’d like to do that quietly if at all possible.
The same day the shroud arrives, I’ll fire up the grill; and his black
walnut grove! 😉

I figure that it pays huge dividends to keep the neighbors happy; and
sets precident (IMHO) when we ‘gun nuts’ take them and their feelings
into consideration.

For true whisper quiet you either need to build or buy a shroud. As far as hammer slap, I’m told it SEEMS much worse than it is because it happens near your ears. A good way to tell would be to have someone shoot your gun with them in one end of your yard and you in the other. I know where I live there will be no back yard shooting until I can see Tony.
