Poll…how many of you use a scope?How many use open sights?
I’m not sure the poll is set up right. But you get the idea. Has anybody tried the see through rings?

Scopes for me, I can’t shoot open sights worth a damn. I have Simmons 44 Mags on both my TSS’s. One of them is mounted in the Leupold see through high .22 rings available from WalMart, I really like them. They get the scope just a little bit higher than the Accushot high rings I have on my other Talon, looks like about 3/16″, makes a big difference. And they’re priced about the same. Later.

How well can you see it at 50 yards in bright sun light? Has anybody mounted one on top and one on bottom set to say 10-20 yards and maybe 50-60 yards?
I agree with Wolkonking, the red lasers suck in daylight. I have used one of the new Leapers new green lasers rock and I am very happy with it vs. red! We just shipped out several of these new Leapers. For the cost, I like what I see, as they come with picatinny mounts system, you need the leapers converter mount (for 11mm rails). Still around a $100 for green (with converter mount) is a hell of a deal.

Now for what’s long range….On PCPs that’s over 10 yards when the scope takes over. On magnum powder burners that range for scopes expands from 100 to 1000 yards. There are no lasers on my magnums. AKULA

You need a GREEN LAZER to be able to see it in sunlight.
Now for what’s long range….On PCPs that’s over 10 yards when the scope takes over. On magnum powder burners that range for scopes expands from 100 to 1000 yards. There are no lasers on my magnums. AKULA

For long range I use a scope only. For short range, screw open sights. I use a laser!

I use a scope on my Talon. I use open sights on other guns and love them, but the Airforce guns are so accurate that you need a scope to get the most out of them, IMHO.
I use a scope I never got the hang of open sights. 😀

I like a fixed-power, low magnification scope. I may try a low power variable like a 2-7. I haven’t developed a taste for higher power/adjustable objective scopes yet; I haven’t put the money into a really nice one.
My 4.5X14X44 has terrible distortion issues at higher powers, though the AO on this one does appear to repeat itself which is good for using the A/O as a range-finder.
I really appreciate the simplicity of just pointing and shooting with the fixed 4X32mm using a 30/30 reticle. I think you get a higher quality scope for your dollar going with a fixed-power scope.
