Q:

poor accuracy

Hi guys i have been playing around with my talon s as the accuracy was very poor, i have fitted a new LW 24inch barrel but still the accuracy is shocking, i can get a group of maybe 1 inch at 50m then for no reason it will start shooting wildly barely gettin 6inch groups! I chrono it and it seems to go anywhere from 820 fps upto 950fps! IM thinking that maybe the hammer i am using in rattling down the gun when i shoot, would the change in fps cause such shocking accuracy? Any ideas on a cure? IM thinking maybe a tighter fitting hammer as the one i have in at the moment is .948 outer diameter. Any suggestions would be great:)

Hi,
Whats ‘centralizer for spring’
Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Well i have made all new parts and it seems to have solved the problem, i fitted ptfe collars to the hammer which are a closer fit to frame, i made new barrel bushes, and a centraliser for the spring, ive just got in from a wander round my shooting land with 3 rabbits all with large holes in the brain box! Loving the gun again now!

You can try removing the top hat and adding a coat of silicone grease. Crony again, if it improves the extreme spread remove and polish the top hat and re-lube.

You might try cleaning everything really well and then dry lube the hammer / spring. If that helps, the problem is the hammer binding and you need a Talon Tunes hammer. Maybe it’s your valve stem binding. There’s a recent thread, I think in the Talon section, where a good clean and polish solved a similar problem.
