poor grouping
Hi lads I had a issue with my cricket compact which wouldn’t group but it was clipping the mod, some lads not grouping even after cleaning barrel and trying loads of different brands of pellets at under 12ft lb but turn the power upto fac and the grouping changes to pellet on pellet, what causes this to change at different power settings?

I have my moments. It was actually a half-hearted attempt to promote Nick´s little Mad House …
My first groups were around 2 inches with some as large as 3 inches. Then I lapped the barrel using Autosol (on Sir Villes advice), paying extra attention to crown and transfer port. Now I get 1-inch groups with unweighed pellets. Finding the right pellet (and batch) is essential for accuracy, JSB Express and RS works best in mine.
1 ” /55 yards/.177 at 7+ fpe is mighty impressive ! I quess you won´t be satisfied before it´s Pellet on Pellet though … :winkn: Wanna try that RAI ?
good one Ville…… 😆

My .177 Standard grouped very poorly at first. My tests were conducted at 55 yards indoors (no wind) and my rifle is set at 7,4 fpe, shooting 10-shots groups.

Ok. Can the progress be followed at the Nutshot Porn Forum ?? 😉
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …
The thing is sv as i say not all are ratworks and alot of us use them sub 12 even imports with the use of adjusters the .25 s shoot spot on as do 177 it seems to be just the 22cal whsts suffering anyhow ice is having his gun replaced so will see the out come when he gets it back
Coda is right on them Crickets being designed to shoot at higher than 12 ft.lbs power level. However , they can be made to shoot really well at under 12 ft.lbs as well. Those Delrin pieces Mr. Ratworks uses to choke them down aren´t the way to go though. You need to tune dowm the reg and find a setting for the valve spring pretension , HS tension and HS spring length to play in harmony with the reg setting. Hell – my Countryman here (Losdrivare) has made great progress in tuning his .177 STD down to 7ft.lbs level. Ask him for pointers,he´s not as dumb as he looks.
Cheers coda ernest is on to the springs the tuner of most of these guns in the uk asnt really tuned em just choked hell out of em with big lumps of delrin and although look real consistent over a chrono not producing accuracy you would expect from one usally seems to be the .22 cal which is suffering also atvb dave g
Just kidding about being in the UK but seriously, I am not sure they really designed them to shoot well below 13 fpe. What I suspect may be going on and Ernest would know much better is that the HST was greatly reduced without an adequate regulator adjustment. Just a guess. Ernest may suggest a spring change or even Belleville washer change to go so low.
U seem to be missing the point nothing to do with power for certain pellets theyve tried almost every brand and weight and there still crap uless shot at 30 ftlb of energy any ideas to what be causing it twist rate of areels ect or just cheap rushed machiening of the barrels as the polish lads are finding out this as nothing to do with bern set in the uk as a lot are imports too what are doing it
Maybe living in the UK? 😆
Exact Jumbo Express
Characteristics: Slightly lightened and therefore significantly faster Exact Jumbo variation. It is a unique choice for weapons with restricted power. Do they want to restrict you by its power? Beat them with speed and accuracy! Higher velocity and flatter trajectory. Muzzle velocity is 185 m/s if the power of airgun is set to 16J.or
Exact Jumbo RS
Characteristics: The lightest weight domed pellets from our range. The RS stands for Rapid Speed because the velocity is much higher than with the regular pellets. Also the ballistic curve will be very flat. There is also a connection with a car industry where RS is nickname to their sport models (Rally Sport) which are lighter and more powerful than the regular ones. Ideal ammunition for 16J air rifles in cal .22. Muzzle velocity is 192 m/s if the power of airgun is set to 16J.Hi octavius,
Here in the UK our legal limit is 12ft lb (16j).
One lads as tryed nearly every different brand and weight in .22 cal and he cannot get zero unless he turns power up over the legal limit then it doesn’t matter which brand of pellet he uses he can get perfect zero. What do you think is causing this?

As I said probably it is not enough energy for those weight pellets. Try this one:

Thanks, but no I’m not quite satisfied yet… :
I hope to reach sub MOA accuracy some day, that’s half an inch at 55 yards.
