Power? – Talon SS with a Condor tank and .25 cal barrel
What can I expect from a stock Talon ss body and Condor tank with an 18 or 24 inch barrel? Or the other question is it worth it. Thanks!

i hunted hogs with a SS valve(that was slightly bored out 3.4mm) and a 24″ .25 barrel, pumping out about 60fpe with 42 grain EJ, i had a stock condor valve that was really performing well for an old style valve, it was making 85 fpe in the same rifle…but both my cousin Henrik, and i though the SS valve was a better shooter.
rifle did the trick twice 2 hogs down….and i got a squirrel at 70+ yards
dont get hung up on power…u can shoot and kill cats, fox, possum, with about 30 fpe, with 16 grain JSB, granted correct shot
A Stock Talon SS with a .22 or .25 24″ barrel is an awesome combo ! expect about 40-45 fpe(in .22), pretty much perfect for kodiak’s, and you will get a shitload of shots
A standard flow tank with a 24″ .25 barrel will give you appox. 830 fps using 31gr Kodiaks.
47 fpe

Ok – perhaps a 18 inch barrel with a trigger tune, valve tune and a shroud.
Sorry I did not see the last past before I replied.

As I understand it – stock ss in 22 with a 24 in barrel and a shroud to fit it will give about 1000 fps with a heavy pellet. Subsonic, quiet, moderate power level and accurate. Works for me.
My existing rifle is getting heavy for me. I have a 707 that I set to 950fps with 14.3 gr. 1.5in groups at 100 yards. 70+ fpe with Korean 30 gr pelets but 2ft groups at a 100 yards is nothing to brag about.
Alan Z. does great work.
All my experiance in selecting a rifle is about 10 years old.
Thanks for the help – Dave
You really don’t need a Condor tank to get the velocities needed to kill a lot of stuff. The standard tank with a longer barrel really makes the gun shine.
I said it once and I will say it again. My setup of a Talon SS with a 16″ barrel (or 18″) with a tuned valve and a shroud is the perfect set up for me. It gives me the power to reach out to 100yds and it is still within normal gun length for easy handling.
I did the same: Put a 24″ barrel on my Talon SS when I want more power for hunting. The same kind of numbers as bikinicrazy. Best of both worlds. All you need is a barrel w/bushings and an end cap.
I have a 24″ barrel on a stock SS, I am getting 950 fps with Kodiaks and 1040 fps with JSB’s. With this setup you will get about 50 consistent shots, at least that is what I am getting with lots of fiddling.
I shoot 2 places, at home for small pests and at a ranch where there is a city( 1 bar, 2 trailers and a few homes). across a river. The ranch needs more power and a quiet condor could make sense. Every time I shoot a rimfire or center fire rifle at night the city folk call the game warden. I’m not breaking any laws but I don’t like being on first name basis with every warden in the county.
Thanks – Dave
I have killed all those things with a talon ss with Crosman Priemeres and Kodiaks.
After you add baffles and vent the bushing and frame the town folk wont hear you shoot at all.
A condor shooting 21g pellets at 1000fps is producing 46 fpe. For what you wanting to hunt, a stock Talon SS will produce ~26 fpe and kill the critters you after with no problems. If you looking in shooting beyond 50 yards then go with the condor or a moded TSS
I am not looking for 80fpe. Just enough power for small possem, large rats and skunk, around 40fpe. Pehaps a 22 with heavy pellets in an 18 inch barrel would work.

A Talon SS with a Condor tank and 24″ barrel is a Condor. As Sot said dont forget the hammer weight.
You will be punching out .22 Kodiaks well over 1000fps.
Welcome,
If you replace the talon tank with a condor tank you must increase the hammer weight in order for it to work correctly. If you want condor power, just get a condor and be done with it. 8)

All of the advice given here is right on the money! I went a slightly different way. I wanted to get the SS ready for a .25 Bbl.
I have a 18″ 22 in it at the moment, with a Condor valve.
WOW! It is too hot for a full fill. I am filling to 2200 with Cp’s and getting 1100 +.. Or 2400 psi with JSB’s getting 1127
Kodiaks are at 1055 at the same fill.
I only get about 20-25 shots before the poi drops. Not a problem with what I want the gun for.
Next, a 18-21″Bbl in .25 would be nice to try!
It is fully shrouded, very quiet, and not such a long set-up as a .24″ Bbl. with a shroud. Thats a little too much for the woods for me.
