Q:

powerwheel question

I have a Talon SS since a couple of weeks, my first pcp. I’m very happy with it, its more accurate than I’ve ever been with my HW80. So far no probs, there’s just one thing: I shot it over the chrono tonight at different powerwheelsettings and it’s around 820fps at every setting. So turning the wheel doesn’t change anything. Who can help?

THe pressure in the tank is another variable.

When I bought my Talon from Mac1 it had tested and shot most efficiently at 2800 lbs. with a power setting of 1.1 with Kodiaks.

Turning it up only wastes air. However, I bought a 24″ barrel and with the extra length, I can use the power wheel up to about 6 for most efficiency.

Thanx I enjoyed the forum already even before I had my SS. So in my case I should put it on 2. It’s just that they say on the instruction video PW low for indoorshooting and that’s now one of the reasons I chose an AF rifle, being able to change the power.

The Power Wheel is more of a mainspring pretension. You really dont get much change in velocity. The best thing to do is shoot your gun over a chronograph and when you find the lowest PW setting that gives you the maximum velocity turn it a little past that and leave it there.

If you turn it up higher it just opens the valve longer and wastes air.

Good luck and enjoy the forum!
