Predator Polymags in an AA S410
Anybody shoot Polymags in a .22 S410. I was really looking forward to trying them in my new AA S410 ERB. I was really shocked at how much my gun did not like them. I would have thought somthing was wrong with my gun but it was shooting great with JSB Exacts. I am shooting at 40 yards and i got 5 great groups(5 shot groups) with the JSB. All 5 groups under .5″ and one of them .271″. Then I switch to the Polymags and the best I can do is 2.5″ I would not even call them groups. More like randomly thrown across the target. I was just wondering if anybody else was using the polymags in an AA S410 and what are your results. They were very consistant across the chrony; but would not group at all. Thanks.

Thanks again for the info Mike. I just re-read your first post and I noticed that you said you keep them under 950fps. I was shooting them in the mid 960’s. Maybe I should try again and turn down the power on the S410. It was also interesting that your Kodiaks needed a dozen shots to get back on track after shooting the Polymags. I guess I have some more experimenting to do. Thanks again,

I pulled the tips out of 50 predators this weekend, and took them squirrel killing.
The do shoot “slightly” worse in my S410, roughly .75″ @ 50 yards without the tip. Usually around .5″ with the tip.
BUT without the tip, they fit and cycle thru the magazine no problem. ME LIKE.
Like Mike discovered, I had to shoot a magazine full before they started shooting ok. When I went to a magazine of 18.1 gr JSBs, I though something was wrong I couldnt hit a thing. After the first mag, things went back to normal.
This is fairly common in all airguns, the fouling is different for each pellet type. Consistent fouling = consistent shots.
Well, just to see what would happen, I just pulled the tips out of 10 pred’s. and shot them at 45 yards. Can you say Shot Gun? 😯
I would have thought they would have been better without the tip. It must be more like the Crow Mag’s.
I then shot a 10 shot group with the tips in and WooHoo! 1/2 group, with many touching in the center of the group!
Weird thing is, I then went back to my fav’s! The Kodiaks and they were all over the place. It took about a dozen rounds for them to come back! Different lead I guess. So much for mix and match in the field. It would be nice to be nice to be able to use different pellets for different game in the field. But not on the same hunt I guess! 🙁

Thanks Mike. I was using a single load tray from RC Machine to load them. I understand that not all pellets will work well but I was really surprised with how badly they shot. They shoot better in my 18″ Talon but not as well as the JSBs. I will try pulling the tips on some and see how that works. Thanks again.

Some guns don’t like some pellets. Did you manually feed them single shot, or use the mag. The poly tips are too long for the mag’s. and will be damaged when the mag. rotates.
Try this. Use a set of wire dikes, and pull the tips and try again. This has worked for many shooters. In fact, they use to be made this way. Wish they still were.
They shoot very well out of my 18″ bbl condor valved Talon SS if I keep them under 950 fps.

960 should be fine! I guess with the different alloys in pellets, it is good to fire a few rounds with the intended pellet before going hunting after shooting something else.
