Q:

Prepping a new barrel?

Hey folks…

As you may have read, I’ve got a BRAND NEW 18″ barrel on the way, and I want to handle all the initial housekeeping before I set it and forget it.

I’ve heard LW barrels arrive with oil and dirt in the bore, so I’m thinking I’ll give it a basic mop-and-patch session using Goo-Gone, yes?

Any other suggestions?

Thankya….

FLITZ is GOOD. That stuff works just the same

I can’t get the Bore paste here without ordering so I have been using either Seim Chrome or Flitz for years with very good results! 😀

I basically clean all my new airgun barrels using a mild LEAD remover like for use with my powderburners till the wet/dry patches comes out clean. then i JB Bore paste the barrel to remove any small tooling marks/slight imperfections. Then i repeat the first cleaning process and start shooting.

My polygonal needed to be scrubbed with J+B bore paste many times before any real accuracy showed up. It had a varnish like coating in there.

A few of us would even go as far as polishing the bore. But I would shoot it first, polishing wont make an already good barrel much better.

that is what i would do
